Money "changing hands" on the stock exchange decreased, but some stocks still increased by 84%
Hanoi Stock Exchange ( HNX ) has just announced the summary results of the listed stock market in the first month of 2025, with a downward trend in both stock prices and liquidity.
Specifically, in January, the HNX index closed at 223.01 points (-1.94% compared to the end of 2024). The average trading volume and trading value per session reached nearly 48 million shares and more than VND 759 billion, respectively, down 32% and 22% compared to the previous month.
Transactions of the group of 30 leading stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX30) had a total volume of more than 444 million shares, equivalent to a transaction value of more than VND 8,700 billion, accounting for nearly 55% of the volume and nearly 68% of the transaction value of the whole market.
During the month, the top stocks with the best liquidity belonged to SHS (Saigon - Hanoi Securities), HUT (Tasco) and CEO (CEO Group).
In terms of trading price, the stock code SVN of VEXILLA Vietnam Group increased the most last month (+ 55%), followed by BKC (Bac Kan Minerals, +45%0), PV2 (PV2 Investment, +29%), KSV (TKV Minerals, 24%).
Meanwhile, the UPCoM index closed the first month of 2025 at 94.3 points (-0.8%). The average trading volume reached more than 46.5 million shares/session (-13%), the average value reached more than VND 676 billion/session (-28%).
In terms of liquidity, HNG (Hoang Anh Gia Lai International Agriculture) shares continue to be the most traded on UPCoM, followed by HBC (Hoa Binh Construction), AAS (SmartInvest Securities).
In terms of trading price, the top 3 stocks with the strongest price increase on UPCoM respectively belong to: BOT (BOT Thai Ha Bridge, +84%), HBD (Binh Duong PP Packaging, +60%). In addition, there are YBC (Yen Bai Cement and Minerals), TOS (Tan Cang Sea Services), KVC (Kim Vi Stainless Steel Import-Export Production)...
Foreign "sharks" net sell
In the first month of the year, foreign investors continued to net sell on the stock market listed on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, with nearly VND83 billion net sold (-43% compared to the previous month). Shares PVS (Vietnam Oil and Gas Technical Services) and SHS (Saigon - Hanoi Securities) recorded the top trading volume.
Self-trading activities of listed stocks at HNX of member securities companies in the month had a transaction value of more than 448 billion VND (accounting for nearly 3.5% of the total market, up nearly 29% compared to the previous month) and net sales of more than 162 billion VND.
Meanwhile, on the UPCoM market, foreign investors recorded a trading volume decrease of nearly 63% compared to the previous month, with a net selling value of more than VND186 billion. The stock bought the most by this group was HNG (Hoang Anh Gia Lai International Agriculture), followed by OIL (Vietnam Oil).
On the selling side, HNG was also the stock sold the most, followed by ACV (Vietnam Airports Corporation).
UPCoM stock proprietary trading continued to net buy more than VND94 billion last month. However, the net buying level decreased sharply compared to the previous month (-75.5%).
UPCoM lost 4% of capitalization, HNX maintained its upward momentum
The UPCoM market in the first month of 2025 welcomed three new businesses registering for transactions and four businesses canceling. At the end of the month, there were 886 businesses, with a registered transaction value of more than VND 463,000 billion. The capitalization value at the end of January 2025 reached more than VND 1.55 million billion (-4%).
Meanwhile, the HNX floor had one company delisting its shares. The total number of listed companies at the end of the month reached 309, with a total value of more than VND 165,500 billion. The market capitalization value at the end of the month reached more than VND 349,700 billion (+1.4%).
