The Final Round of the National Startup Talent Search Competition Techfest Vietnam 2024 took place on the morning of November 26. This is an activity within the National Startup Festival 2024 (TECHFEST Vietnam 2024) organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).
Responding to the general theme "Joining hands to develop the Vietnamese creative startup ecosystem", the Vietnam Creative Startup Talent Search Competition 2024 brings opportunities to connect financial resources, partners, and develop domestic and international markets for startups.
Officially launched on May 23, 2023, the competition received nearly 500 applications from provinces and cities across the country. After more than 40 days with more than 4 rounds of selection, 40 leading experts and prestigious investment funds devoted their time and effort to screen nearly 500 applications down to the 5 best teams to participate in the National Competition Final Round. From there, the 3 best teams were selected and awarded by the Jury, Advisory Board, and Organizing Committee.
According to the final results, the First Prize of the competition was awarded to YEAST ERA (YERA). This is a leading unit in biomass fermentation technology, researching, developing, manufacturing and supplying the market with smart solutions for health.
Second Prize went to ENFARM - an agricultural technology company with a mission to improve farmers' livelihoods and promote sustainable agricultural growth by developing the world's most affordable and accurate soil sensor technology.
Third Prize went to the TUBUDD team with a platform that connects tourists with local "buddies", providing authentic and unique travel experiences.
According to the general assessment of experts and investment funds, the solutions of startups participating in the competition are diverse in terms of development stages. These products have solved specific problems in many fields such as tourism, finance, clean energy, climate...
Most of the products in the top 5 have deep technology, innovative solutions, bringing artificial intelligence (AI) closer to the business community. Enterprises also demonstrate confidence, market understanding, technological capacity and boldness in testing new business models.
The winning teams will receive prizes with a total value of nearly 16 billion VND in cash and in kind, including benefits for market development, product promotion, brand communication, exhibition display and training.
Speaking at the Final round of the competition, Mr. Pham Hong Quat, Director of the Department of Science and Technology Enterprise and Market Development (Ministry of Science and Technology) emphasized that the event is not only an important milestone but also clearly demonstrates the new resilience of young Vietnamese minds.
“The competition has demonstrated the new vitality of young minds, with the aspirational hearts of the young generation of Vietnam. We not only balance between meeting domestic needs but also promoting international integration. This is the playground for Vietnam to demonstrate its capacity in building a creative startup ecosystem,” Mr. Quat shared.
In fact, the innovation and startup sector in Vietnam is increasingly flourishing. In 2024, Vietnam's innovation and startup ecosystem ranked 56th in Startup Blink's Global Startup Ecosystem Index. Notably, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City entered the top 200 global startup cities.
