National Highway 1 and Ho Chi Minh Road through Ha Tinh, Da Nang, and Thua Thien Hue have many sections affected by landslides due to heavy rains that have lasted for the past two days.

On the afternoon of November 13, Road Management Area II said that heavy rain had caused many national highways to be deeply flooded and eroded, and some sections had to be temporarily closed, affecting traffic.

Ho Chi Minh Road through Ha Tinh province was flooded 0.4 m deep, making it impossible for vehicles to pass for 3 hours at noon on November 13. After 3 p.m., the water gradually receded.

Highway 8 in the area of the road expansion and upgrading project also suffered a landslide, causing traffic congestion. The contractor has now cleared the area for traffic to pass.

On Highway 1 through Hai Van Pass in Thua Thien Hue Province, a section of the guardrail has sunk and is at risk of collapsing onto the North-South railway. Deo Ca Investment Joint Stock Company - the management unit - has temporarily dismantled the guardrail section and used sacks of soil to build a bank to prevent water from flowing in.

The Ho Chi Minh Road section from La Son to Hoa Lien (Hoa Vang District, Da Nang City) was also affected when a part of the hill collapsed, causing rocks and soil to spill onto the road. The maintenance unit mobilized workers at the scene to clean up and ensure safe traffic.

According to the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, the landslide is an area that is being monitored for landslides. In case the landslide poses a threat to traffic safety, the authorities will temporarily stop traffic for handling.
