On May 15, the Investigation Police Agency of Rach Gia City Police, Kien Giang Province, issued a decision to prosecute and order the temporary detention of Nguyen Minh Tam (born in 2003) and Tran Thanh Trong (born in 2004) - both residing in Rach Gia City, to investigate the act of robbery.
According to the initial investigation results, on the morning of May 9, Tam and Trong discussed and agreed that at noon or in the afternoon, they would take advantage of the young students coming home from school holding or talking on their phones to rob and sell them for money.
That same afternoon, Tam was driving a motorbike carrying Trong when he discovered a young female student riding an electric bike alone, holding a cell phone in her hand, so he immediately followed her.
When they reached a deserted road, Tam immediately drove close to the female student's car so Trong could snatch her iPhone 11 and then accelerate to run home.
Rach Gia City Police's investigation officer reads the decision to temporarily detain Tam and Trong.
Then, Trong gave the stolen property to Trong's wife and Tam's wife, who together sold it for 2 million VND.
