Overcoming difficulties and challenges to have many bright spots in operations

Speaking at the conference, journalist Nguyen Duc Loi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Agency of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, presented a draft summary of activities in the past year. Accordingly, in 2023, despite many difficulties and challenges, the Agency's activities had many bright spots and very positive changes. The Party Committee and leaders of the Agency promptly grasped the thoughts and aspirations of cadres and party members; focused on handling and thoroughly resolving many limitations and backlogs for a long time, making the situation and ideology in the Agency stable, united and highly unified.

On April 12, 2023, the Prime Minister issued the Charter of the Vietnam Journalists Association. On June 5, 2023, the Standing Committee of the Association issued a document guiding the implementation of the Charter to all levels of the Association.

Under the direction of the Party Delegation and Party Committee, the work of organizing cadres has had clear changes. The review of cadre planning has been carried out in accordance with the correct procedures and regulations, in accordance with the actual conditions of the Association. The Central Agency of the Association has overcome the situation of appointing cadres not included in the planning, basically stabilizing personnel and ensuring succession.

Pursuant to Directive 43-CT/TU, dated April 8, 2020 of the Central Party Secretariat on "Strengthening the Party's leadership over the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the new situation". In 2023, the Standing Committee of the Association established a working delegation to work with the leaders of 03 provinces: Tien Giang, Nghe An and Hoa Binh to assess the activities of the Provincial Journalists Association; requesting local support to remove difficulties in the Association's activities such as funding, office space, staffing, etc.

Foreign affairs have made new developments, especially strengthening connections with embassies of other countries in Vietnam, receiving diplomatic receptions of ambassadors, aiming at the spirit of expanding press diplomatic relations between Vietnam and other countries. Organizing delegations to and from some countries that have traditional relations with the Vietnam Journalists Association.

Last year, the Central Office of the Association played a good role as a focal point, calling for and concentrating social resources to implement extremely meaningful volunteer activities in the following provinces: Quang Tri (July 2023): 3.3 billion VND; Yen Bai (November 2023): 145 million VND; Binh Phuoc (May 2023): 265 million VND; Tay Ninh (May 2023): 100 million VND. Mobilizing sponsorship with Agribank in coordination with the Journalists Association of 13 southern provinces to award scholarships to poor students in the region, amounting to 1.5 billion VND.

In 2023, units within the central agency of the Vietnam Journalists Association have made efforts to promote their role and position, overcome difficulties, take advantage of opportunities and favorable conditions, innovate, improve the quality and efficiency of operations to achieve many important achievements. The association's work has had positive changes, going into depth, members have strived, united, been creative, and actively participated in activities.

Journalist Le Tran Nguyen Huy - Member of the Executive Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Trade Union, Acting Editor-in-Chief of the Journalists & Public Opinion newspaper shared about the results of the Trade Union's activities in 2023.

In particular, the Professional Board has had many outstanding activities. Within the framework of the 2023 National Press Festival, the Professional Board has presided over the implementation of the voting for the awards of the Press Festival. As the focal unit assisting the National Press Awards Council, the Board has coordinated with the Office and units inside and outside the Agency to successfully organize the Award judging and the 17th National Press Awards Ceremony - 2022...

The Association's Working Committee proactively coordinated with the Department of Non-Governmental Organizations, Ministry of Home Affairs to seek opinions and receive and complete the draft Charter of the Vietnam Journalists Association; advised the Association's Standing Committee to issue Instruction No. 169-HD/HNBVN dated June 5, 2023 guiding the implementation of the Charter of the Vietnam Journalists Association, thoroughly implementing it to all levels of the Association and members.

The Inspection Board has developed and amended the Operating Regulations; Regulations on the functions, tasks and powers of the Board; Inspection and supervision program of the Inspection Board in 2024. Based on the assigned tasks and areas, the members of the Inspection Board have been proactive in inspection and supervision work, handling cases in the area, initially promoting the roles and responsibilities of the members. Regarding the protection of the legal practice rights of members and journalists, the work of protecting the legal practice rights of members and journalists is determined.

Leaders of departments, units, officers and civil servants of the Central Office of the Vietnam Journalists Association discussed and shared experiences and results of their units' activities.

In 2023, due to difficulties in disbursing state budget funds for professional training activities, the Center will continue to organize training courses in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; introduce lecturers and develop training programs for the Journalists Associations: Quang Ngai, Quang Binh, Lao Cai, Ha Nam; actively coordinate with international organizations, local Journalists Associations and agencies, ministries and branches to implement programs to improve journalism and communication capacity.

In 2023, the Vietnam Press Museum focused maximum resources on all aspects of work and achieved a number of results. It effectively operated regular exhibitions and successfully organized many thematic exhibitions and meaningful events; organized many meaningful events to introduce and promote the value of press heritage of all periods, which were highly received and appreciated by public opinion and the public, and hundreds of domestic press agencies were interested and widely reported. The museum welcomed more than 31,000 visitors.

In 2023, the Association Office will continue to perform well its function as a focal unit to advise, organize, and assist the Head of the Agency and the Standing Committee of the Association; focus on advising and proposing to improve personnel work and staff planning, and prepare well for the appointment of staff in the Agency; the Office's leaders will continue to make exemplary efforts, improve the effectiveness of leadership and direction of the unit and proactively coordinate with units under the Central Agency of the Association to organize and implement work tasks; actively and proactively complete assigned tasks, continue to promote the awareness of compliance with discipline and regulations of units in all aspects of work...

Regarding the activities of the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper, in 2023, the print newspaper publishing work continued to be stable, published on time, maintained its objectives, and made no mistakes. The online newspaper congluan.vn operated stably and had positive changes, recording very good view growth. The implementation of coordination for major events during the year continued to be well implemented, the amount of news articles produced was timely, ensuring timeliness and accuracy, and objectivity to well serve the information and propaganda needs of the event. The number of reporters honored as well as the scale of awards achieved at press awards is increasing.

Carry out charity work from the “Green Dream” Fund for pediatric cancer patients of the Central Oncology Hospital; award scholarships to students with outstanding achievements, students with difficult circumstances but good academic performance of 03 journalism training schools...

In addition, other departments and units of the Central Committee of the Association also strived to overcome many challenges to successfully complete assigned tasks.

Delegates also heard the financial report of the Central Office of the Vietnam Journalists Association in 2023. Journalist Le Tran Nguyen Huy, Member of the Executive Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Trade Union, Acting Editor-in-Chief of the Journalists & Public Opinion newspaper, shared the results of the Trade Union's activities in 2023, and proposed solutions and tasks to improve the quality of trade union activities in 2024.

With a serious and frank spirit, at the Conference, leaders of departments, units, officers and civil servants of the Central Agency of the Vietnam Journalists Association discussed and shared experiences and results of their units' activities. They emphasized solutions to overcome difficulties, effectively implement political and ideological education and professional ethics for members and journalists. They evaluated and shared experiences in organizing activities to improve the quality of activities of each branch, department and unit...

Many opinions hope that the leaders of the Central Office of the Vietnam Journalists Association and its departments and units will continue to promote the tradition of solidarity and unity, overcome all difficulties; closely follow the orientation, events and political tasks of the Association; promote innovation, improve the quality of propaganda content..., and serve the assigned tasks well.

The Organizing Committee announced the decision to award the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level in 2023 to 38 cadres, employees, and workers of the Central Office of the Vietnam Journalists Association; announced the decision to recognize the title of Advanced Worker in 2023 to 125 cadres, employees, and workers.

Also at the conference, the Trade Union of the Central Agency of the Vietnam Journalists Association awarded certificates of merit from the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of the Central Agency of the Vietnam Journalists Association to 6 advanced trade union groups and 54 advanced trade union members to recognize their achievements in contributing to the development of the trade union organization of the Central Agency of the Vietnam Journalists Association in 2023.
