(CLO) According to Decision No. 3117/QD-BVHTTDL of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST), Vietnam Drama Theater, Facility 2, will be built at 20 Hoang Quoc Viet, Cau Giay District, Hanoi. The Decision was signed and issued by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong.

Specifically, this decision clearly states that apart from the changed location, other contents remain the same according to Decision No. 1696/QD-BVHTTDL dated May 26, 2021 and Decision No. 199/QD-BVHTTDL dated February 8, 2023.

The construction of a new Vietnam Drama Theater is also mentioned in the Cultural and Sports Facilities Network Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2045, signed and issued by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long.

The plan aims to develop a synchronous, modern, and unique national cultural infrastructure network, aiming to build a national image associated with absorbing the cultural quintessence of the times.

The plan sets the goal of building four new key projects with a minimum capacity of 1,200 seats, including the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Vietnam Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Vietnam Drama Theatre and the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra.

Vietnam Drama Theater (formerly the Central Art Troupe) was established in 1952 in the Viet Bac resistance zone.

During the process of construction and growth, up to now, Vietnam Drama Theater has affirmed its position as the "red elder brother" of Vietnamese drama art.

Before the approval to build a second facility, the Vietnam Drama Theater only had a performance theater with 182 seats (135 seats on the first floor and 47 seats on the second floor). This number of seats was considered too small compared to the theater's position. The modest theater was located at 1 Trang Tien, right behind the Opera House. During the golden age of theater, the Opera House was the performance venue of the Vietnam Drama Theater.
