Sharing with Thanh Nien , Mr. Do Manh Ha, owner of Ha Hang ornamental garden in Van Giang Town (Van Giang District, Hung Yen), said that for the 2024 Lunar New Year, his family's garden supplied the market with about 700 ornamental plants for Tet. By February 6, the 27th of the 12th lunar month, there were only more than 10 plants left in the garden.
A "rich" customer in Hanoi spent 130 million VND to rent a Dien grapefruit tree to enjoy during the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin.
Among the products that have been successfully traded and shipped to customers, there are many bonsai art works such as Dien grapefruit trees and kumquat trees designed with unique, eye-catching shapes and large sizes that many tycoons have spent hundreds of millions of dong to own.
Also according to Mr. Do Manh Ha, in addition to the ancient Dien grapefruit tree with 350 fruits for rent at the price of 150 million VND right from the time of opening for sale for the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, in recent days, this gardener has successfully traded Dien grapefruit and kumquat trees worth hundreds of millions of VND.
Ancient grapefruit tree nearly 30 years old, nearly 4 m high with clusters of heavy fruit
Specifically, a "rich" customer in Hanoi transferred 130 million VND to rent a 4-meter-tall Dien grapefruit tree, a genuine Dien grapefruit tree nearly 30 years old.
In addition to the natural grapefruit, Mr. Ha designed and grafted about 200 more onto the tree trunk. Overall, from the base to the top, the Dien grapefruit tree is very beautiful with clusters of heavy fruit, giving off a natural fragrance.
An ancient Dien grapefruit tree planted in a stone pond, designed with a miniature fish tank, was purchased by a customer in Hai Phong for 150 million VND.
Another Dien grapefruit tree planted by Mr. Ha in a stone tank with a miniature waterfall was also "bought outright" by a customer in Hai Phong for 150 million VND.
According to Mr. Ha, the total weight of this work is up to 10 tons, of which the heaviest is the stone material used to create the shape of the fish tank and waterfall under the grapefruit tree. Notably, 80% of the Dien grapefruit on this tree bloom and bear fruit naturally.
One of Mr. Do Manh Ha's "huge" Dien grapefruit trees was bought by a customer to place in his private home to celebrate Tet.
In addition to the ancient Dien grapefruit, this Lunar New Year season, Mr. Ha also successfully sold a "huge" kumquat tank measuring 7 meters long, 2.2 meters wide, and 3.5 meters high to a customer in Hanoi for 150 million VND.
The "biggest" kumquat tree in his garden this Tet holiday was sold by Mr. Ha to a customer in Hanoi for 150 million VND.
Mr. Ha said that, in contrast to the difficult situation of the bonsai market in general, unique and eye-catching bonsai art works aimed at high-end customers are still being bought and sold very actively. In particular, many wealthy customers this year come to the garden very early to choose and rent beautiful trees instead of waiting until close to Tet like every year.
"Previously, the bonsai trees that cost hundreds of millions of dong were rented out mostly to customers in Hanoi. In recent years, many tycoons in Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh... have spent large sums of money to own unique, strange, "huge" sized bonsai trees to play with during Tet. Especially with beautiful old trees, many people are willing to pay extra to buy the trees to put in their villas and home gardens," said Mr. Ha.
