The ancient house at 87 Ma May Street is one of the ancient houses with the typical architecture of old Hanoi. The house was built around the end of the 19th century, with a total land area of ​​157.6m2, with a length of 28m2, a frontage width of 5m and a back width of 6m. The house was invested in and renovated from the end of 1998, completed on October 27, 1999; as a historical mark of Hanoi 36 streets. All architectural structures, construction materials made entirely of wood, and household items are kept intact. On February 16, 2004, the house at 87 Ma May was granted a National Heritage certificate.

There are still many ancient houses that still exist today in Hanoi. However, the ancient house at 87 Ma May has a special architecture, is preserved, and is an unforgettable part of the memories of the people here. In the past, this house was privately owned and has gone through several owners. With the sponsorship of the Toulouse City Council (France), the house has been preserved by the Old Quarter Management Board since 1999.
