'Fans thought the Singapore rematch was easy, but...'

The Vietnamese team will face Singapore in the second leg of the AFF Cup 2024 semi-final, taking place at 8:00 p.m. on December 29 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho Province). In the first leg, Do Duy Manh and his teammates defeated host Singapore with a score of 2-0. However, the 1996-born captain affirmed that the Vietnamese team cannot be complacent, because the second leg will be very unpredictable.

"Maybe everyone thinks the second leg will be easy, but my teammates and I think everything will be very difficult. The goal of the Vietnamese team will be the second leg of the semi-final first. We have to complete this task first, then we can think about what comes after that," Duy Manh affirmed.

In the first leg at Jalan Besar Stadium, although he only played 45 minutes in the second half (replacing Bui Tien Dung), Duy Manh played solidly, helping the Vietnamese team keep a clean sheet in the third match at the AFF Cup 2024. The 28-year-old captain also left a good impression when he helped his teammates stay calm at the end of the match, when some Vietnamese players argued with referee Ko Hyung-jin after the decision to deny Nguyen Xuan Son's goal.

According to Duy Manh, the presence of fans in the second leg will help motivate the Vietnamese team. "We saw long lines of fans lining up to buy tickets to enter the stadium. That is the motivation for us to fight with determination. The audience is the spiritual medicine for the whole team. No match is easy. The Vietnamese team will concentrate highly, follow the tactics set by the coaching staff to play well tomorrow's match," Duy Manh concluded.
