The elderly in Phuc Luong set a shining example

But with Mr. Dao Duc Nghe, former Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Luong Commune; Mr. Dao Van Hoi, former Chief of the Commune Police, it is different. After retirement, they continue to enthusiastically participate in the work of the Commune Elderly Association.

When talking about the subsidy, we often jokingly say that “there is not enough money for gas”, but when talking about responsibility and role-modeling, it is difficult to compare with the contributions of you as well as the elderly members in the commune in common movements and activities, such as: The movement of the whole society to care for and promote the role of the elderly; The whole people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas; the movement to build new rural areas and advanced new rural areas…

Mentioning this issue, Mr. Dao Duc Nghe, Chairman of the Elderly Association of Phuc Luong Commune, was very proud. He said: In the emulation movement to complete the criteria for building a commune that meets new rural standards, the elderly members were willing to contribute working days, cash, land, etc. to build infrastructure and welfare works to serve the people. Especially in the program to build 6m-wide hamlet roads, many families of elderly members donated hundreds of square meters of land, demolished fences and gates to build solid constructions, etc.

Mr. Dao Duc Nghe, Chairman of the Elderly Association of Phuc Luong Commune, visited Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoat, 106 years old.

In 2 years (2023-2024), the association members whose roads pass through have donated a total of more than 12,000m2 of land, including nearly 2,000m2 of residential land; demolished more than 1,800m of fences and solidly built gates; participated in nearly 300 working days with a total contribution of nearly 96 million VND. Typical examples are the families of Mr. Dao Van Dung, in Cau Tuat hamlet, Dao Van Hoi, in Cay Thong hamlet, Dao Trong Thui and Nong Quy Dai, in Cay Hong hamlet, Mrs. Dao Thi Dan, in Nhat Tam hamlet...

In addition, in order to help members improve their physical and mental health, live happily, healthily and usefully, the Commune Elderly Association has advised local leaders to establish the Then singing - Tinh lute club with 20 members participating, operating in an orderly and effective manner, contributing to preserving, promoting and conserving the national cultural identity.

The Association has established 10 cultural and artistic clubs; 6 volleyball clubs attracting a large number of elderly members to participate in training, exchanges, performances... achieving many high achievements. Mr. Dao Van Hoi, Vice Chairman of the Association, was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for his achievements in preserving, promoting and conserving national culture.

Speaking of Then singing and Tinh lute, we had the intention of listening to a piece of music. Without hesitation, Mr. Dao Duc Hoi quickly changed his clothes, tuned the strings, and played smooth, vibrant notes, creating a unique folk song and dance. The melody and rhythm of Then lyrics are sometimes gentle and passionate, sometimes joyful and bustling... With a unique and distinct artistic style and strong emotional power, Then singing and Tinh lute have become the soul of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups. Therefore, Then singing and Tinh lute have a strong vitality, and are passed down, preserved, and promoted by the people.

Promoting the achieved results, the Association of the Elderly in Phuc Luong Commune continues to propagate and mobilize members and their families to comply with the policies, guidelines and laws of the Party and State; to carry out well the political tasks of the locality, including the movement to build advanced new rural areas; to build an increasingly strong Association organization, and to successfully complete the assigned tasks.

The Elderly Association of Phuc Luong Commune has 570 members, reaching more than 90% of the people aged 60 and over in the commune participating in activities, including 4 people over 100 years old; the oldest person is 106 years old. 98% of the member families have achieved the title of cultural family...
