Lao Cai: The opening ceremony of the 2023 Honghe (China) - Lao Cai (Vietnam) International Cycling Race "One Track - Two Countries" will take place on the morning of December 9 at the Ethnic Culture Square of Hekou District, Yunnan Province, China.
The race is expected to have over 600 athletes participating.
According to a press release from the Department of Culture and Sports, the “One Track - Two Countries” Honghe (China) - Lao Cai (Vietnam) International Cycling Race will take place over two days (December 9 and 10) in 2023 in Honghe (China) and Lao Cai city (Vietnam). The race will be attended by 615 athletes from cycling clubs and bicycle and motorcycle federations of provinces and cities of the two countries.
The delegation of the Department of Culture and Sports of Lao Cai province (Vietnam) and the Department of Education and Sports of Honghe prefecture, China) met to agree on the plan to organize the tournament.
Specifically, athletes will compete in 2 events and divided into age groups: Individual cross-country racing (MoutianBike) (men, women) distance 25 km with young men 16 - 35 years old, middle-aged men 36 - 49 years old, senior men 50 - 65 years old, young women 16 - 39 years old, middle-aged women 40 - 65 years old; Individual road racing (RoadBike) (men, women), friendship team (men, women) distance 80 km with young men 16 - 35 years old, middle-aged men 36 - 45 years old, senior men 46 - 65 years old, young women 16 - 39 years old, middle-aged women 40 - 65 years old.
Up to now, more than 200 Vietnamese athletes have participated in the tournament.
According to Ms. Dinh Minh Ha, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports: After 3 years of interruption due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2023 Hong Ha - Lao Cai - Vietnam International Cycling Race "One Track - Two Countries" has been launched, marking the return of a large-scale, prestigious tournament and meeting the expectations of many cyclists across the country. The Hong Ha (China) - Lao Cai (Vietnam) International Cycling Race is an international-scale competition jointly organized annually by Lao Cai province, Vietnam and Hong Ha district, China. The race not only has the value of a sporting activity but also the value of solidarity and friendship between the people of Vietnam and China.

Competition content
Athletes will compete in 2 categories: Mountain Bike and Road Bike.
1. Cross-country racing (MoutianBike) individual (men, women), friendly team (men, women):
* Divided into the following age groups:
- Young male: 16 - 35 years old.
- Middle-aged male: 36 - 49 years old.
- Elderly men: 50 - 65 years old.
- Young female: 16 to 39 years old
- Middle-aged female: 40 - 65 years old
* Competition venue: Hekou District, Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China.
* Race distance: 25 km.
2. RoadBike individual (male, female); friendly team (male, female):
* Divided into the following age groups:
- Young male 16 - 35 years old.
- Male 36 - 45 years old.
- Male 46 - 65 years old.
- Young female 16 - 39 years old.
- Female 40 - 65 years old.
* Competition distance: 80 km (10 km on the Hekou side - China, 70 km on the Lao Cai side - Vietnam):
* Competition venue: The competition uses a shared track between Hekou district - China and Lao Cai city - Vietnam.
3. Friendly Team Racing:
Organizing the China-Vietnam friendly team competition: The two sides will combine in the form of club - club; association - association; unit - unit..., each age group will send a group of 6 people (3 people on each side). Calculate the results for all 6 athletes in the team. Each age group will select no more than 5 teams; athletes participating in the team competition will be arranged by the Organizing Committee (based on the situation of participating athletes, the number may increase or decrease).
4. Competition rules: Apply the Cycling Rules of the International Cycling Union (UCI).
- Number: The Organizing Committee will issue a number to each athlete.
- Racing bike: Athletes use racing bikes for sports competitions.
5. Solution structure:
The Organizing Committee will award prizes to individuals and male and female teams with high achievements in the competitions.
+ Awarded from 1st to 5th prize, equal prize from 6th to 10th, equal prize from 11th to 20th, equal prize from 21st to 30th, equal prize from 31st to 50th in each individual competition for men.
+ Awarded from 1st to 5th prize, equal prize from 6th to 10th, equal prize from 11th to 20th, equal prize from 21st to 30th in each individual competition for women.
+ Award first, second and third prizes for each friendly team event.
