(Dan Tri) - With SAT from 1,100 and IELTS from 5.0, candidates can apply for journalism and communications at some schools in the Northern region.
According to the 2025 enrollment plan of the Academy of Journalism and Communication , the school's journalism and communication majors reserve 30% of their enrollment quota for a combination of international English certificates, SAT certificates, and high school transcripts.
The admission requirement is IELTS from 6.5 or higher, while SAT must be at least 1,200/1,600. This SAT score requirement is equivalent to top schools in the field of economics and engineering.
Notably, candidates with SAT scores from 1,200 to 1,270 will only receive an additional 0.1 point. Candidates with SAT scores from 1,520 and above will receive the highest additional 0.5 point. Meanwhile, 1,500 is an SAT score in the top 1% of the world.

For English certificates, the Academy of Journalism and Communication adds 0.4 points to candidates who achieve IELTS 6.5. Candidates with IELTS 7.0 or higher will receive 0.5 points.

The Multimedia Communications Department of Vietnam Women's Academy does not consider SAT certificates, but considers a combination of English certificates with high school graduation exam scores or transcripts.
Specifically, candidates need IELTS 5.0 or higher, or TOEFL IPT 500 or higher, TOEFL iBT 55 or higher, or TOEIC 550 or higher.
Vietnam Women's Academy converts international English certificates to a 10-point scale when considering admission. Candidates with IELTS 6.5 or higher are counted as 10 points.
The detailed conversion table is as follows:

The Diplomatic Academy has not yet announced its 2025 enrollment plan. However, in previous years, the International Communications major at this school has combined admissions with international English certificates, international standardized certificates with high school academic results. The enrollment quota for this method is equal to 70% of the total quota for each major.
Accordingly, candidates need to have IELTS from 6.0 or higher and SAT from 1,200 or higher.
For candidates with multiple international language certificates and multiple standardized tests, candidates are allowed to choose up to two types to calculate bonus points. In which, the main certificate is converted to level 1 points, the secondary certificate is converted to level 2 points.
For example, a candidate has both IELTS 6.5 and SAT 1,200, the candidate's incentive score (DKK) will be calculated as follows:
Condition = IELTS 6.5 + SAT 1.200 = 3.5 (level 1) + 0.25 (level 2) = 3.75
The detailed incentive points conversion table is as follows:
Hanoi University of Culture has not yet announced its enrollment plan for this year. In previous years, the school’s Journalism department considered combining high school transcripts with international English certificates.

How to calculate admission score (ADS) using SAT and ACT certificates as follows:
SAT score = SAT x 30/1600 + priority points or ACT x 30/36 + priority points.
For combined admission, the school requires IELTS 5.5 or higher, and the total score of the remaining 2 subjects in the admission combination based on high school graduation exam scores must not be less than 14. One of these two subjects must be math or literature.
