Previously, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An province coordinated with experts from the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum and the Tran Nhan Tong Institute to carry out the work of copying the text of the Ma Nhai stele.
This is an important step in the process of documenting, providing accurate and complete information about this relic. The reproduction of the stele text helps to record in detail and honestly the patterns and writings on the stele, serving the research, preservation and introduction of the historical and cultural values of the relic.
Ma Nhai Stele is carved on a cliff in Chi Khe commune, Con Cuong district, recording the feats of the army of the retired Emperor Tran Minh Tong in 1335. After nearly 700 years, the stele remains intact, unaffected by weather or erosion.
The entire stele consists of 155 words, deeply engraved on a 213cm x 155cm cliff area. Notably, the words on the Ma Nhai stele are very large, with each word having an average diameter of about 10.5cm.
Nghe An province hopes that the recognition of Ma Nhai stele as a national treasure will help preserve and promote the value of cultural heritage, while promoting cultural tourism in Con Cuong district.
