TASS news agency reported that speaking at a press conference, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow and Beijing are actively preparing for Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the BRICS summit in Kazan in October.
“We will continue to intensify political dialogue at all levels, focusing on the diplomatic activity of leaders,” Ms. Zakharova said.
Both countries are currently focusing on cooperation and implementing initiatives in trade, transport, logistics, finance, energy, agriculture, technology, industry and mineral resources.
According to Ms. Zakharova, in the context of "growing sanctions pressure from the West and the dual containment policy aimed at both Russia and China, the priority is to ensure reliable and uninterrupted operation of payment mechanisms to protect the legitimate interests of the two countries".
Previously, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations and China's National Day, Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Xi Jinping had a phone call, in which the two leaders expressed their appreciation for the relationship between Beijing and Moscow.
Xinhua news agency reported that President Xi Jinping affirmed that he is "ready to work with Mr. Putin to expand comprehensive substantive cooperation between the two countries."
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that "we value friendly, good-neighborly relations with Beijing. Despite the difficult international situation, the two sides have recently achieved qualitative growth in trade and implemented many large-scale bilateral projects in many fields."
The Russian leader also assessed that the interaction between his country and China within the framework of the United Nations, BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and other multilateral forums is effective and of great importance.
