IMPROVE PRODUCT QUALITY, DEVELOP BRAND

According to the report of the Department of Science and Technology, in 2024, the Department of Science and Technology will coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade to amend the management regulations and expand the scope of protection for the certification mark "Da Lat - Miraculous crystallization from the good land" at the Department of Intellectual Property for product groups: preserved fruits, preserved mushrooms, tea, artichoke tea, fresh fruits and fresh mushrooms. This "Da Lat - Miraculous crystallization from the good land" trademark is also being registered for protection in the Japanese and Korean markets, with a total implementation cost of over 1.7 billion VND.

The Department of Science and Technology supported localities in registering for protection of 7 community trademarks including: Da Huoai cashew nuts, durian, honey pineapple and Tay village rice paper (Dam Rong), Dung K'no honey (Lac Duong), Bao Loc orchids and Bao Lam mangosteen. Implementing the Intellectual Property Development Program to 2030, the Department of Science and Technology also supported 14 organizations and individuals to have certificates of exclusive protection for inventions and trademarks, with a total cost of 155 million VND.

The Department of Science and Technology has integrated the implementation of online traceability of agricultural products into the National Program to Support Enterprises in Improving Productivity and Quality of Products and Goods. In 2024, the Department provided funding for 21 enterprises and cooperatives to apply quality management systems (HACCP, ISO 22000, GlobalGAP, Halal...) and 11 enterprises and cooperatives to certify products according to standards and regulations, with a total budget of over 1.87 billion VND. Advised the Provincial People's Committee to approve 2 provincial-level science and technology projects, with a total budget of 1.98 billion VND, to support enterprises and cooperatives in applying food safety management systems, productivity improvement tools and good agricultural practices according to VietGAP standards.

CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

However, the proposal and ordering of scientific and technological tasks related to research on the application of post-harvest processing and preservation technology for the province's typical agricultural products in the past time has not been much, and has not promoted the application of advanced and modern technologies for the province's key agricultural products.

The registration of community trademarks for the province's typical products has received special attention from localities in recent times. However, after being protected by the Department of Intellectual Property, localities still have development plans for each specific trademark such as increasing the number of members using the trademark, promoting and developing the market, organizing strict management, organizing technological innovation, applying science and technology, and protecting the trademark. For collective trademarks, cooperatives and cooperatives that own the trademarks have not paid attention to mobilizing production households to register, use, promote, and develop products bearing the collective trademark.

Therefore, localities need to have specific development plans for each community brand after being protected, including increasing the number of participating members, promoting the market, innovating technology and protecting the brand. Cooperatives and unions need to pay more attention to mobilizing production households to register, use and promote products bearing collective brands.

In the coming time, the province aims to promote research and application of post-harvest processing and preservation technology to increase the added value of agricultural products. Strengthen communication and promotion of local agricultural products in domestic and foreign markets. Continue to support enterprises and cooperatives to build sustainable agricultural value chains that meet international standards.
