Difficult beginning
In 2021, Duc Linh Commune People's Committee chose Thanh Binh village as a highlight for building a smart residential area. However, like many new models in rural areas, implementation is not easy when people do not have much knowledge about digital transformation. Infrastructure is still lacking, people's lives are still difficult, making the use of smartphones or wifi installation very limited. The village staff also lacks technological skills.
Thanh Binh village, although having only 125 households, but with an area of more than 4 km² and sparse population, it is difficult to announce information, organize meetings or convey policies to the people. Faced with this situation, Duc Linh commune authorities decided to implement solutions to overcome this.
Solutions and community support
To achieve the goal of building a smart residential area, Duc Linh commune has mobilized the participation of youth union members with knowledge of technology. These people were sent to guide officials and villagers in using devices such as smart speakers, smart TVs or public wifi connections.
"The initiative of cadres and party members in the village, combined with the enthusiasm of the youth, helped us quickly get acquainted with technology," said Mr. Nguyen Trinh Hao - Head of Thanh Binh village.
In addition, financial support from higher-level authorities also plays an important role. Authorities at all levels have invested more than VND300 million to purchase smart speakers, surveillance cameras, install public wifi networks and other technological devices. This is an important factor for families to easily connect and share information within the community.
Positive results
To date, Thanh Binh village has achieved many encouraging results. More than 95% of households use smartphones, integrating banking applications to perform transactions such as money transfers or QR code scanning.
Online shopping has also become popular, helping people save time and money. In particular, information, guidelines and policies of the Party and State are quickly updated through channels such as Zalo groups, helping people grasp and implement policies more effectively.
"Since the village built a smart residential area, technological utilities have supported us a lot. Receiving information and communicating with village officials via Zalo groups has become more convenient, we can buy goods without cash, and security and order have also improved significantly. Our lives have changed positively, and the neighborhood relationship has become more cohesive," said Ms. Le Tam, a resident of Thanh Binh village, excitedly.
Sustainable development future
The smart residential area model in Thanh Binh village has not only improved the quality of life of the people but also helped the village move closer to its goal of becoming a model new rural commune. These changes are an important part of the construction and development process of Duc Linh commune, with the goal of achieving the standard of a model new rural commune by the end of this year.
Smart residential areas are not only a model of technology but also a testament to the power of community solidarity, where all people can participate in the development process, contributing to improving life and promoting common prosperity./.
