Caring for the poor and people in difficult circumstances is the task of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in Hanoi. From the city's budget and socialized resources, social security and care for the poor have been implemented by all levels, sectors and districts, achieving many positive results, contributing to improving the quality of life of the people in the capital.

The Gia Lam District Fatherland Front Committee in coordination with the Phu Dong Commune Fatherland Front Committee has just organized the handover of Great Unity houses to the families of Ms. Le Thi Dung and Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, two extremely disadvantaged households in the commune. To provide resources for the families to build Great Unity houses, the District “For the Poor” Fund supported each family with 60 million VND, and the Commune “For the Poor” Fund supported 5 million VND. In addition, Ms. Le Thi Dung’s family also received an additional 120 million VND from relatives. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan received over 85 million VND from relatives.
After more than 2 months of construction, up to now, the 2 houses have basically been completed with full and spacious auxiliary works, ensuring quality to help the family stabilize their lives. It is known that the Great Unity house given to the two families is the 31st house out of a total of 34 houses that the Gia Lam District Fatherland Front Committee supported to build in 2024. This is a meaningful activity of the Gia Lam Front to help households with especially difficult housing circumstances, actively responding to the emulation movement of the whole country joining hands to "Eliminate temporary houses, dilapidated houses" nationwide in 2025.
In the last days of 2024, we went to Yen Nguu village (Tam Hiep commune, Thanh Tri district), clearly feeling the joy of Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen's family, because from now on, the mother and her three children will no longer have to live in a temporary, cramped house. Her husband died early, she raised two young children alone, and Ms. Huyen herself has an unstable job. Sympathizing with the extremely difficult circumstances of her family, the Tam Hiep Commune Fatherland Front Committee proposed to the Thanh Tri District Fatherland Front Committee to support the construction of a new house with an amount of 50 million VND from the district's "For the Poor" Fund.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Van - Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Tri district, through reviewing and understanding the needs of a number of households, it was found that many households have the will to escape poverty but lack capital and resources. The Mobilization Committee of the Fund "For the Poor" of Thanh Tri district has focused on reviewing and assessing the needs of poor households to help them create a stable source of income and escape poverty sustainably. In 2023 and the first 9 months of 2024, the whole district supported near-poor households and households in especially difficult circumstances with 76 motorbikes, electric motorbikes, electric bicycles, sugarcane juicers, plants, seedlings... to develop production, and learning tools worth more than 1 billion VND. This is the driving force for families to develop the economy, aiming to escape poverty.
Focus on Tet for the poor
In 2024, the Hanoi Fatherland Front Committee at all levels, together with member organizations, carried out many practical activities to care for and support poor households and families in difficult circumstances, such as: Allocating over 103 billion VND from the "For the Poor" Fund to support the construction and repair of 1,232 Great Solidarity houses; supporting the construction and repair of houses for 714 poor households and households in difficult circumstances... However, at present, Hanoi still has poor and near-poor households, many families still have difficulties in housing and means of production, and need help.
With the motto "No one in difficulty is left without attention and gifts on the occasion of Lunar New Year", Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong signed and issued Plan No. 276 on leadership, direction and organization of activities for the 2025 New Year and the Lunar New Year of At Ty in Hanoi. Accordingly, all levels, sectors and localities need to promote the tradition of great solidarity, the spirit of "mutual love and support", actively and proactively carry out social security work well, take good care of the material and spiritual life of people throughout the city with the motto "everyone, every family has Tet"...
