With the spirit of “Joining hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind”, Lao Cai province has mobilized the entire political system to take care of Tet for the poor. The meaningful gifts before the New Year not only help people in difficult circumstances have more conditions to celebrate Tet happily and warmly.
Responding to the program "Tet for the poor" Spring At Ty 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at all levels in Lao Cai City has developed a plan to mobilize social resources to give Tet gifts to the poor. Mr. Doan Van Ngan - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai City said that after more than 1 month of mobilization, the city has received nearly 600 million VND in donations. All donated resources have been used by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city to give Tet gifts to 54 poor households, 664 near-poor households and households in especially difficult circumstances in the area.
Along with the meaningful gifts presented by the Front and organizations, on the occasion of Lunar New Year this year, Lao Cai City also reserved more than 5,100 gifts with a total cost of over 2.7 billion VND to give gifts to families of outstanding meritorious people, elderly people who turned 100 years old; presented gifts to 37 households whose houses were collapsed, completely washed away or damaged and could not be lived in, and had to build new houses due to the impact of storm No. 3; presented gifts to 220 social protection beneficiaries in difficult circumstances, orphans who lost their source of support, orphans of both parents, children with severe disabilities, and patients treated at the City General Hospital.
With the goal of all poor and disadvantaged households receiving Tet gifts, since the beginning of January 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Sa Pa town and its member organizations have proactively mobilized resources to help the poor and those in difficult circumstances have a more complete and fulfilling Tet. Along with the "For the Poor" fund, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the town also mobilized 425 million VND for the "Tet for the Poor" Program in the Spring of At Ty 2025. Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Sa Pa town said that during the Lunar New Year, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels of the town coordinated with the government, departments, branches, and member organizations to mobilize and present gifts to 1,890 poor households and 1,362 near-poor households and households in difficult circumstances in the area. Along with that, more than 560 poor, near-poor households, and households subject to residential arrangement have been supported with housing and relocated out of dangerous disaster areas.
Regarding the results of taking care of Tet for the people, Mr. Ly Van Hai - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province said that this year, the program "Tet for the poor" with the theme "Spring of solidarity - Happy Tet" organized by the Provincial People's Committee in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province has received support in money and gifts from agencies, units, businesses, and philanthropists with a total value of nearly 18 billion VND. Up to now, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province has organized and supported localities with more than 5.6 billion VND to carry out activities to take care of Tet for the people.
During the Lunar New Year 2025, Lao Cai province will spend over 20 billion VND from the local budget, support from the program "Tet for the poor" Spring At Ty 2025 and relief funds managed by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province to visit and give gifts to people with meritorious services to the revolution, poor households, people receiving social protection policies in the area and some other individuals. The whole province will support about 4,535 people with meritorious services to the revolution, relatives of people with meritorious services to the revolution, people with especially severe disabilities, policy beneficiaries being cared for and nurtured at the Lao Cai Provincial Social Work Center, at a rate of 500,000 VND/person; support over 28,000 poor households and households escaping poverty at a rate of 500,000 VND/household.
