Nguyen Van Ngoc Duc is currently a 12A2 student at Bach Dang High School in Quang Ninh Province. Duc said he often helps his parents burn votive papers and noticed that his neighbors also burn them on their doors or balconies, causing dust to fly everywhere, polluting the environment and posing a risk of fire and explosion. Duc asked why there was no solution to protect the environment while still maintaining the tradition.
From this concern, Duc researched and manufactured the product "Smokeless, dustless votive paper burner". The male student's product is designed with high-temperature resistant stainless steel, with a closed burning process. The votive paper only needs to be put into the furnace, closed, turned on the power and it will burn without releasing smoke or dust into the environment.

To make the product, Duc applied knowledge of science and physics from primary to high school. "I don't have to use knowledge that is too advanced for me. The uniqueness of the product is its user-friendly design, different sizes, and can be used for families or places of worship. The burning of votive paper can be done using solar energy or a battery, depending on the buyer's order requirements, and the characteristic of the furnace is that it does not cause smoke or dust," Duc shared.
Revealing the technology of filtering smoke and dust, Duc said he only uses materials such as lime water, coal, steel wool and fine dust filter membrane... Researched since 2022, the product has been well received by the market.
The product of male student Nguyen Van Ngoc Duc won second prize at the 2024 Rural Youth Startup Project Competition and received a certificate of merit from the Central Youth Union.

To bring the product to market, Duc connected with the Startup Investment Club of Quang Yen Town Youth Union (Quang Ninh) and the support of the school. Duc has sold hundreds of products at a price of 1 - 4 million VND/stove.
Passion leads to success
Sharing about Duc, teacher Vu Thi Ngoc Thu (technical technology teacher, Bach Dang High School, Quang Ninh province; who accompanied Duc in the process of making the product), said that Duc is passionate about scientific and technical research. In addition to his time at school, Duc always researches and invents technical products that can be applied to life. Duc created the product "Rescue Robot" when he was in middle school and won an encouragement prize in the Quang Yen Town-level scientific and technical innovation contest.
"Duc's house is like a miniature workshop. He collects technical equipment and makes everything himself. In class, Duc is a good student, with a solid grasp of knowledge related to physics, technology, and mathematics," said Ms. Thu.

Ms. Thu also said that when she learned that Duc had a passion for science and technology, the school assigned her to guide and support the production of products for the competition. When Duc had the idea of making a smokeless incense burner, the school organized for him to visit places of worship and consult experts on the technical production process.
"When technical problems arise, he promptly detects them and proactively finds many solutions. During the process of completing the product, the teacher and student will discuss together and Duc will choose the best solution to implement," said Ms. Thu.
Recently, the German project "Smokeless and dustless votive paper incinerator" won second prize at the 2024 Rural Youth Startup Project Competition and received a certificate of merit from the Central Youth Union.
Talking about his next plans, Duc said he is focusing on his upcoming graduation exam and wants to study at a technical university to continue pursuing his passion.
