Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of Nam Giang District Party Committee - Le Van Huong reviewed the heroic tradition of the revolution, the birth of Nam Giang Party Committee, as well as the process of struggle, construction and development through the periods.
The Party Committee of Ben Giang District (now Nam Giang District) was officially established by the decision of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee on August 26, 1949. This was a historical event of great significance, recording the important growth in both quantity and quality of the revolutionary struggle movement of the people of Nam Giang.
Under the leadership of the District Party Committee, the steadfast revolutionary tradition of the ethnic people was strongly promoted, the guerrilla warfare movement was promoted and developed. Carrying out the tasks of the Inter-Zone 5 Party Committee and the Provincial Party Committee, the armed forces and people of Nam Giang made great efforts to contribute to building and protecting the base system, from Ben Gieng to Khe Hoa, Hoi Khach... creating a large, interconnected base behind the enemy, serving as a solid support for our forces to continuously attack the enemy and gain increasingly greater victories.
The resistance war against the US, to save the country, with the steadfastness and bravery of the army and people of Nam Giang, created battles, with places that have gone down in history, such as the ambush to destroy the enemy platoon at Doc Gop, defeating the Go - Lau post, besieging the A Tep post, the A Roo post, the Dac - Ploong post. A typical example is the battle of the Bot Xit post on October 23, 1960, completely destroying the enemy post on Nam Giang land, causing a great resonance, contributing to the overall victory of the uprising movement in the mountains...
"After the liberation day, the district Party Committee focused on leading the people to overcome difficulties and the consequences of war to build a new life. The district Party Committee at that time launched a short-term vegetable growing movement to solve the immediate hunger problem.
Implementing the Party's policy and the direct and close leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the District Party Committee has effectively led the movement to settle down, eliminating the nomadic practice that has existed for generations" - Mr. Huong emphasized.
The whole district has 179 martyrs, 463 wounded and sick soldiers, and 34 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. The Party Committee and people of Nam Giang district were honored to receive 3,584 orders and medals of all kinds from the Party and State; the district and 11/12 communes and towns, along with 3 individuals were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces...
During the national liberation struggle, the ethnic people of Nam Giang district mobilized and contributed more than 1 million working days to serve the resistance war, and more than 3,000 young people went to directly fight the enemy with guns.
In addition, more than 250,000 tons of food, hundreds of thousands of buffaloes, cattle, and poultry of the people, despite many difficulties, hunger and lack of salt, still wholeheartedly supported the army with the belief in victory...
