GLOBAL TIMES. The Chinese government has announced a series of new tax policies to revive the struggling real estate market.

AFP. Spain closed schools and evacuated people as heavy rains hit the country, two weeks after severe flooding killed more than 200 people.

SKY NEWS. Metro Bank in the UK has been fined nearly £17 million ($21.65 million) by the country's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for lax monitoring of money laundering activities over the past four years.

America

BBC. Bitcoin prices have surged to a new record high as markets continue to benefit from US President-elect Donald Trump's pledge to ease regulations on digital currencies.

SUDAN TRIBUNE. The UN has warned that Sudan's civil war is continuing to cause "severe violence and suffering" for millions of civilians.

REUTERS. At least 16 people have died after a landslide buried a boat moored on the Tsiribihina River in western Madagascar, the country's maritime, ports and rivers authority said.

Oceania

AFP. More than 2,000 Indonesian and Australian soldiers participated in a joint exercise called Keris Woomera on Java island.
