On the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), Researcher Uch Leang, President of the Association of Cambodian Alumni in Vietnam (CAVA), Acting Director of the Department of Asian-African and Middle Eastern Studies, Cambodian Institute of International Relations, Royal Academy of Cambodia (RAC), highly appreciated the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the journey of leading the struggle for national liberation and nation building over the past century in the neighboring country.
Expressing his impression of the great achievements after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi and the upcoming development goals of the country and people of Vietnam on the threshold of a new era - an era of national growth, the Cambodian researcher said that the great achievements gained from the Doi Moi process under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam are a solid foundation to move towards completing the goal of strong development and prosperity of the Vietnamese people in the future.
On the occasion of the Spring of At Ty 2025, CAVA Chairman Uch Leang sent congratulations on the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam - the party that played an extremely important role in leading the Vietnamese revolution to consecutive glorious victories, confidently moving the Vietnamese ship forward.
He stated: "In the 95 years since the founding and development of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Party's leadership has led the revolution and continuously achieved many great victories."
Reviewing the modern historical milestones of the neighboring country under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, from the period of fighting for power (1930-1945) and the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945, the period of protecting and developing the achievements of the August Revolution, conducting two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism (1945-1975), researcher Uch Leang said that the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam on February 3, 1930 and the revolutions carried out with continuous glorious victories up to the present day have greatly contributed to the revolutionary movement of the entire Indochina region in general, especially in Cambodia and Laos in particular.
The Cambodian researcher stated: “The Dien Bien Phu victory on May 7, 1954 against the French colonial regime shocked all of France and the world, forcing the French government to sign a peace agreement granting full independence to Vietnam. The full independence of Cambodia and Laos was also recognized by France and the war in Indochina also ended completely.”
The Chairman of CAVA also noted the role of the Communist Party of Vietnam in deciding on reforms and implementing the reform and innovation policy in Vietnam. He stated his opinion: “I believe that the Communist Party of Vietnam has clearly affirmed its leadership role in the country’s innovation process to build and develop the country sustainably on the socialist path as we see today.”
According to researchers from RAC, at the 6th National Congress of Delegates of historical importance in 1986, the Communist Party of Vietnam decided to propose a comprehensive, extensive and drastic reform policy, opening the way for national renewal, focusing on promoting the reform of economic management and state management mechanisms. This is considered an important turning point in the cause of building and developing Vietnam on the path of socialism. The fight against corruption and the policy of streamlining the payroll and reducing the apparatus that the Communist Party of Vietnam is vigorously implementing is a correct policy with an overarching vision to improve the quality of the system, the management apparatus, and the leadership of the country, promote and ensure the efficiency, quality and transparency of the apparatus, bringing confidence to the people as well as foreign investors.
Based on the review of the great events in the historical process of the past 95 years, Mr. Uch Leang said that the Communist Party of Vietnam is the decisive factor in the victory of the revolutionary cause in Vietnam. According to him, the Party has always been steadfast in leading the country, strengthening the building and rectification of a clean Party, improving the leadership, management and fighting capacity of the Party, building a strong and comprehensive Party and political system. Thereby, strengthening the people's trust in the Party, the State and the socialist regime, arousing the spirit of building and developing an increasingly progressive and happy country; at the same time, promoting the will and unified strength of the entire nation, together carrying out the reform and modernization process to build and protect the Socialist Republic of Vietnam increasingly stronger.
Having lived and studied in Vietnam for many years in the last decade of the last century and regularly attended international scientific conferences and seminars in the "S-shaped strip of land" in recent years, Mr. Uch Leang said that after nearly four decades of implementing the Doi Moi policy initiated and led by the Party, Vietnam has achieved great achievements in all fields. The international community also highly appreciates Vietnam's successes and believes that Vietnam will continue to set new records.
According to the Chairman of CAVA, the great achievements after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi and 95 years of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam have clearly demonstrated the goal of building a socialist Vietnam, as well as the development and creative application of Marxism-Leninism and President Ho Chi Minh's thought in the revolutionary and reform process in Vietnam. In addition, political stability and great achievements in the fields of economy, society, security, national defense and foreign affairs, together with the strong role and position, combined with the unity and joint efforts of the entire Party, people and army are the solid foundation for moving towards a new era, a new stage of development of the Vietnamese people.
Mr. Uch Leang emphasized that choosing the right development path, in accordance with objective laws and the people's wishes, has brought Vietnam from a purely agricultural country, dependent on agriculture, with a small economic scale to increasingly developing. According to this researcher, Vietnam has proposed a strategy for rapid and sustainable national development based on the foundation of science, technology, innovation and the digital transformation revolution, striving to become a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030 and become a developed country with high income by 2045.
Considering that these are specific goals determined on the basis of Vietnam's own internal motivation, as well as the process of active integration into the global economy, researcher Uch Leang emphasized: "The great achievements gained from the Doi Moi process under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam are the solid foundation towards achieving the goal of strong development and prosperity of the Vietnamese people."
