(Dan Tri) - New FBI Director Kash Patel is considered "absolutely loyal" to US President Donald Trump and has held many important positions during Mr. Trump's first term.

The Republican-controlled US Senate on February 20 approved Mr. Kash Patel as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the country's top law enforcement agency.
Mr Patel, 44, who is considered "absolutely loyal" to US President Donald Trump, was approved by a vote of 51-49.
Mr. Patel was criticized by the Democratic Party for promoting conspiracy theories and defending President Trump's supporters who participated in the riot on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021.
Born in New York to an Indian-origin family, Mr Patel served as a National Security Council official, acting chief of staff to the acting secretary of defense and senior adviser to the acting director of national intelligence, all during Mr Trump's first term.
Mr. Patel has expressed a desire to make major changes at the FBI, including plans to scale back the agency’s operations in Washington and refocus it on its traditional mission of fighting crime, rather than the intelligence gathering that has been a priority over the past two decades as national security threats have grown.
The FBI has been in trouble since Trump took office for his second term. Several agents have been fired or demoted, including some who were involved in the prosecution of Trump for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 election results and mishandling classified documents.
On his first day back in office at the White House, President Trump pardoned more than 1,500 of his supporters in the riot at the US Capitol building in early 2021 to prevent the certification of victory for Mr. Joe Biden.
So far, the US Senate has approved all of Mr Trump's proposed cabinet positions, a clear sign of his tight control over the Republican Party.
