On the afternoon of October 8, Mr. Nguyen Huu Luat, head of the Department of Education and Training of Buon Ma Thuot City, said he had received information about the strange smell that attacked the school, causing two teachers to faint.
"Initial information is that a garage behind the school sprayed paint on cars, creating a strong smell that caused teachers to vomit and faint," said Mr. Luat.
According to a quick report from the school, between 7:30 and 10:00 am today, the school grounds suddenly smelled strangely like pesticide.
At the same time, a teacher in the school had to be hospitalized, another teacher also vomited.
Speaking more about this issue, Mr. Pham Van Thai, Chairman of Tan Loi Ward People's Committee, said that he had directed Nguyen Duc Canh Primary School to stop serving lunch today, and at the same time, let students stay home from school and ask their parents to pick them up.
"If the smell continues, students will be given a day off this afternoon. Currently, only a few staff members have vomited and had to go to the hospital for emergency care.
No student has shown similar symptoms. We are reporting to the authorities for further action," Mr. Thai added.
