It is not yet clear when the casualties occurred on the flight. Thai media reported that 30 people were injured, while Singapore Airlines did not give a casualty figure.

According to the airline, the Boeing 777-300ER plane carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members was en route to Singapore when it had to make an emergency landing.
According to FlightRadar 24 data, after about 11 hours of flying since taking off in London, the plane dropped sharply from an altitude of about 11.2 km to 9.4 km in just 5 minutes as it crossed the Andaman Sea and approached Thailand.
"Suddenly the plane started tilting and shaking so I braced myself for what was happening, then suddenly there was a very strong fall that threw all the people who weren't wearing seat belts upwards," said Dzafran Azmir, a 28-year-old passenger.
"Some people hit their heads on the overhead luggage compartment, denting it, hitting the places where the lights and oxygen masks were," Azmir said.
Suvarnabhumi airport officials confirmed one death but could not confirm the total number of injured.
Police said medical personnel were on board to assess injuries but could not confirm the exact number. Uninjured passengers have disembarked.
"Our priority is to provide all possible assistance to all passengers and crew on board. We are working with local authorities in Thailand to provide the necessary medical assistance," the airline said.
According to a 2021 study by the US National Transportation Safety Board, turbulence-related accidents are the most common type of aviation accident.
From 2009 to 2018, the agency found that turbulence accounted for more than a third of reported aviation accidents, most of which resulted in one or more serious injuries, but did not result in aircraft damage.
Singapore Airlines, widely recognized as one of the world's leading airlines, has not had any major incidents in recent years.
The last fatal accident was a flight from Singapore to Los Angeles via Taipei, which crashed on October 31, 2000. The crash killed 83 of the 179 people on board.
