The US Federal Election Commission website published the above profile on the same day, while Mr. Desantis also released a video statement affirming that he will participate in the election to "lead America back to greatness".
Immediately after the announcement, Mr. Desantis had an online chat with billionaire-Twitter owner Elon Musk on this social network, with about 241,000 followers.
However, all beginnings are difficult, Twitter crashed continuously during the online conversation above, interrupting Mr. DeSantis' announcement about competing for the Republican nomination in the US presidential election.
Mr. DeSantis, 44 years old, is considered a "rising star" of the Republican Party and the most potential opponent of former US President Donald Trump within the party.
Recently, Mr. Trump has been leading the polls compared to other Republican presidential candidates and keeping a significant gap with Mr. DeSantis in second place.
However, analysts predict that the Florida Governor's approval rating could skyrocket when Mr. DeSantis becomes an official candidate.
Currently, in addition to Mr. Trump and Mr. DeSantis, the Republican Party has other presidential candidates including former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, broadcaster Larry Elder, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott.
