Hope Samsung continues to accompany and invest long term in Vietnam

Speaking at the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his hope that in 2025, Samsung Vietnam will continue to achieve better production and business results than in 2024; highly appreciated Samsung's efforts in the first month of the year; highly appreciated the personal contributions of Mr. Choi Joo Ho who tried his best and made many contributions during his time working in Vietnam, including difficult periods, working with the Vietnamese Government to overcome the pandemic and maintain stable production.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated Samsung's contributions to promoting the relationship between Vietnam and Korea; appreciated Mr. Choi Joo Ho for his efforts in increasing the localization rate, and has now developed more than 300 Vietnamese companies to participate in Samsung's ecosystem.

The Prime Minister also highly appreciated Samsung's role in research and development (R&D); not only that, Samsung also contributed many ideas to the Vietnamese Government in the development process.

Welcoming Samsung Vietnam to actively transfer technology to Vietnam, the Prime Minister asked Samsung to continue to have a long-term investment strategy in Vietnam; affirmed that Vietnam is ready to meet Samsung's requirements according to the agreements at the Prime Minister's meetings with Samsung Group in both Korea and Vietnam in the spirit of "harmonized benefits, shared risks", listening and understanding together; sharing vision, awareness and action together; working together, enjoying together, winning together and developing together; sharing joy, happiness and pride.

Expressing his delight that the Vietnamese Government and Samsung Group always demonstrate a spirit of cooperation and listening to each other, the Prime Minister hopes that despite taking on a new position, Mr. Choi Joo Ho will always be attached to Vietnam; continue to support his successor, Mr. Na Ki Hong, to continue the achievements that Samsung has achieved in the past; and hope that the next time he visits Samsung, he will witness a Vietnamese person in the Board of Directors of Samsung Vietnam.

Thanking Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for taking the time to receive the delegation and briefly reporting on the business situation of Samsung Vietnam, Mr. Choi Joo Ho said that last year, the international situation was complicated globally, thus also affecting the production and business of the Group.

However, in 2025, Samsung has rebuilt its growth target to 10% compared to 2024. To do this, all Samsung leaders, officers and employees will have to make every effort.

This year also marks the 30th anniversary of Samsung Electronics' presence in Vietnam. To date, Samsung has turned Vietnam into a global manufacturing base; and has invested in and put into operation a Research and Development (R&D) Center.

Mr. Choi Joo Ho stated that the Vietnamese Government is actively transforming digitally and attracting high-tech investment, so Samsung is ready to respond and hopes to receive support from the Vietnamese Government, ministries and sectors in this process. He expressed his sincere thanks to the Government and the Prime Minister for their active support of Samsung, thanks to which his 6-year term in Vietnam has been very successful.

During the Covid-19 period, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh provided a lot of support and continuously directed Samsung Vietnam not to interrupt production, thanks to which, during that extremely difficult period, Samsung Vietnam continued to grow; especially at that time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directly visited and encouraged Samsung, thereby creating a great source of encouragement and strength for Samsung Vietnam to overcome difficulties.

It was during the Covid-19 pandemic that Samsung built an R&D Center supported by the Vietnamese Government; this Center has now increased to 2,400 employees, expanding into high-tech research, including artificial intelligence (AI).

Samsung highly appreciates the efforts of the Vietnamese Government to create a favorable production and business environment for foreign investors in general and Samsung Vietnam in particular. He expressed his confidence and hope that Mr. Na Ki Hong will continue to develop Samsung Vietnam to new heights.

For his part, Mr. Na Ki Hong expressed that Samsung Vietnam's development today is thanks to the help and active support of the Government, the Prime Minister, ministries, branches and localities of Vietnam; he pledged that he would make every effort to inherit the achievements and develop Samsung even stronger in the future.

Mr. Choi Joo Ho also hopes that the Vietnamese Government will continue to support foreign investors in general and Samsung Vietnam in particular. Mr. Choi Joo Ho said that although he left Vietnam to return to work at Samsung Group, he will always accompany and support his successor to continue to achieve new successes.

Warmly welcoming Mr. Na Ki Hong to his new position, the Prime Minister affirmed that no matter what the circumstances or difficulties, the two sides will find a solution; experience in recent years has shown that every year there are difficulties, the problem is that the two sides understand each other and listen to each other's opinions. On this occasion, the Prime Minister also thanked Samsung for mobilizing the Korean Government to support Covid-19 vaccines for Vietnam during the pandemic.

Regarding Samsung's proposals, the Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government has been actively considering and resolving them, including continuing to perfect institutions, building and amending and supplementing a number of appropriate laws and regulations to create favorable conditions for the Group to operate smoothly in Vietnam, including studying preferential policies for investors when investing in the high-tech sector.

Welcoming Samsung Vietnam's continued investment in Thai Nguyen, the Prime Minister thanked Samsung Vietnam for raising many practical issues, thanks to which the Vietnamese Government has more practical information to include in the proposal to amend and supplement legal regulations.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh re-emphasized the viewpoint of harmonious interests, shared risks, and mutual benefits; hoping that Samsung Vietnam will continue to accompany each other to overcome difficulties, the more difficult it is, the more we must understand each other, and share based on the foundation of the good relationship between Vietnam and Korea, which has only similarities and no conflicts.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always supports the development of Korea; many Korean enterprises continue to research and invest in Vietnam; in that spirit, the Prime Minister hopes that Samsung will continue to expand its research centers and increase localization so that companies can participate in Samsung's global production and value chains. When Samsung creates an ecosystem in Vietnam, it will also benefit Samsung.

The Prime Minister said that Vietnam is investing heavily in infrastructure such as transportation, healthcare, culture, etc.; Vietnam is determined to achieve 8% growth in 2025, and double-digit growth in the coming years, so the entire political system must make efforts, FDI enterprises, including Samsung, must also grow strongly, contributing positively to this effort; therefore, the Prime Minister hopes that Samsung will continue to achieve double-digit growth to accompany Vietnam in the development process.
