Based on the tasks assigned by the leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications in 2024, the Department of Grassroots Information has agreed to cooperate with Zalo to deploy grassroots information dissemination activities through this application. In the coming time, this will be one of the direct communication channels and interact with the people.

Speaking about the importance of grassroots information work, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam said that the country currently has nearly 11,000 commune-level administrative units. The fastest way to inform people is still to use grassroots information systems and networks.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, grassroots information work has shown its strength in transmitting information to each commune-level administrative unit. Through the Zalo application, a lot of information updated on the epidemic prevention and vaccination situation has been brought to the people very promptly.

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam, many localities have now applied the method of disseminating official information through the Zalo application. Particularly in Ho Chi Minh City, the conversion of the form of propaganda from public radio to this application is taking place strongly.

“People’s need for information access is huge, the problem is that we have to innovate the method of basic information. How to both deliver information to people in the most appropriate way and receive feedback from people to resolve it promptly. This can only be done with digital technology,” Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam emphasized.

By cooperating with Zalo, the Deputy Minister of Information and Communications hopes that the Department of Grassroots Information will expand the space for interaction between local authorities and people, and at the same time deploy grassroots information work in a more convenient and closer way to each person and each commune-level administrative unit across the country.
