On April 1, the low pressure area in the west expanded, causing heat waves to appear across the country. The North entered the first widespread heat wave of this summer with the highest temperature reaching 35-37 degrees Celsius, an increase of 2-4 degrees Celsius compared to the previous day.
In the Northwest, some places may record temperatures above 38 degrees Celsius. The hottest time of day is from 11am to 4pm.
The peak of the heat today falls in the area from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen. Although it is early summer, these localities may experience high temperatures of 36-39 degrees Celsius. Humidity drops to a very low level of 35-55%, making the feeling of heat increase.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said the heat wave in the North and Central regions is likely to last until April 5, while the Northeast region will cool down after April 4.
At the weekend, the temperature in the area will remain above 30 degrees Celsius, accompanied by scattered showers and thunderstorms.

In the South, the hot weather will continue for many days to come. Meanwhile, the Central Highlands will experience localized heat.
The effects of heat waves occurring across the country along with low humidity have people taking precautions against the risk of explosions and fires due to increased demand for electricity, along with the risk of forest fires.
During high temperature hours, people should take necessary protective measures when moving or working outdoors to avoid the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays. At the same time, prolonged exposure to high temperatures can cause dehydration, exhaustion, and heat stroke.
Notably, salinity intrusion in the Mekong Delta gradually decreased until mid-week and then increased again. The highest salinity at stations was generally higher than the same period in April 2023.
