Metfone and its 15-year journey in the land of pagodas

According to a VNA reporter in Phnom Penh, on the evening of February 19, at the Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel, Viettel Cambodia Company, a member of the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel), held a ceremony to celebrate 15 years of doing business and operating in the Cambodian market under the Metfone brand - a symbol of friendship and economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries and peoples of Cambodia and Vietnam.

Attending the ceremony were Vietnamese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang, Chairman of Viettel Group Tao Duc Thang. On the Cambodian side, there was the presence of National Assembly Chairman Khuon Sudary; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Cambodia Tea Seiha; Direct Supreme Advisor to the King of Cambodia, Chairman of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association Samdech Men Sam An; Direct Supreme Advisor to the King Tea Banh, and representatives of Metfone staff and employees through the periods. Speaking at the event, Chairman of Viettel Group Tao Duc Thang said that over the past 15 years, Viettel has invested, operated long-term, used and transferred the most advanced technologies, the most effective experiences and contributed to creating social benefits for the neighboring country: implementing education support programs such as school Internet, supporting the disadvantaged in society... In addition, Viettel also committed to dedicating a portion of the network capacity to local authorities to establish a dedicated network for the country's administration. According to Mr. Tao Duc Thang, being one of the countries with stable economic growth, with a sustainable growth rate over the past 2 decades, along with the right development strategy, leadership and close attention of the Cambodian Government is the reason why Viettel chose Cambodia as the first country to step out into the world, creating an opportunity for Viettel to join hands to realize the goal of universalizing telecommunications services, helping all Cambodian people access and enjoy the benefits brought by technology. Mr. Tao Duc Thang emphasized that 5 years ago, Metfone in particular and Viettel in general have carried a new mission of becoming a pioneering enterprise, leading the digital transformation process in Cambodia. Metfone has applied and developed advanced 4.0 technologies to provide digital platforms, solutions and services, contributing to making Cambodia prosperous and sustainable with 4 focuses: Digital government for better service to people, digital economy for richer people, digital society for happier people, cyber security for safer living and working. To date, Metfone is a leading enterprise in the field of digital finance, also pioneering digital transformation for the Government and ministries and branches of Cambodia. The company has signed cooperation agreements with most ministries in the Cambodian Government on digital transformation, including particularly important projects with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education. Viettel Group Chairman Tao Duc Thang affirmed that with the desire to continue to contribute to the development of Cambodia, helping all Cambodians have a better life, with the motto of creativity for people, every solution, every product, every action of Metfone will do everything possible to ensure that no Cambodian is left behind thanks to technology.

Also at this event, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Tea Seiha highly appreciated Metfone for its investment journey in the telecommunications sector over the years, thereby seeking new development opportunities and proposing the next direction of operations to bring even greater achievements in Cambodia.

On behalf of the Cambodian Government, Deputy Prime Minister Tea Seiha congratulated Metfone on its achievements in recent years, and hoped that Metfone would continue to strive to better fulfill its tasks, in line with the "Phase 1 Pentagram Strategy" of the 7th tenure Royal Government of Cambodia in developing the digital economy and society. According to Deputy Prime Minister Tea Seiha, with the strategic orientation of promoting a digital technology revolution in the economic sector, the Cambodian Government has proposed many programs and policies in a positive spirit in responding to the proposals of relevant partners, working together with partners to contribute to the development of Cambodia's digital economy and society. Deputy Prime Minister Tea Seiha emphasized that the success and continuous development of Metfone is a symbol of the friendly cooperative relationship between Cambodia and Vietnam, as well as attracting more and more telecommunications investors to Cambodia.

During the event, Deputy Prime Minister Tea Seiha awarded the noble Monisaraphon Order of the Moha Sereyvath class of the Royal Family of Cambodia to Metfone and three individuals from Viettel Group and Metfone. On this occasion, Metfone also officially announced the launch and introduction of the TV 360 application to partners and users in the Cambodian market. This is a digital application with many entertainment applications and online TV channels, including Cambodian TV channels.
