Messenger has widespread errors in Vietnam

Messenger has been experiencing issues in Vietnam recently. Most recently, Facebook’s tool suddenly stopped working on the evening of May 2. For accounts experiencing issues, communication became difficult as messages were not sent.

Speaking to Zing , Ms. Tran Lien, residing in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City, said she could not send messages to other accounts since 6 p.m. the same day. “I can only see messages from other people. I cannot respond. All the content is in the sending mode,” Ms. Lien said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hai Minh, 26 years old, living in Hanoi, also encountered a similar problem. “The calling feature still works. But the texting function is intermittent, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. The task takes up to 30 minutes to complete,” Mr. Minh shared.

The problem with Messenger happens randomly, not everyone has encountered it. Many users still use all the features on the app normally, without any problems. On the DownDetector page, the number of error reports for the Facebook messaging app increased rapidly from around 5pm. Of which, 80% of users reported problems with sending messages.

Currently, Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Messenger, has not responded to the app's issue. On the status page, the company shows that the app is still working normally.

Vietnamese users have been having a lot of trouble with Messenger and Facebook recently. In early April, a large number of accounts were locked from messaging for 30 days by the platform due to violating community standards. However, many people claimed that they did not engage in unusual behavior on the app.

About 7 days after the accounts were locked, Facebook suddenly reopened the messaging feature without any explanation. Although communication was restored, many people's work and lives were affected by the platform's unreasonable locking of the feature.
