Video: McLaren P1 Coupe supercar suddenly burst into flames.
Accordingly, in 2017, David Kyte, 53 years old, was driving a limited edition McLaren P1 supercar on the highway when the car suddenly caught fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be an oil leak in the engine. Luckily, at that time, Mr. Kyte escaped in time and only suffered minor burns to his face and head.
In fact, this is not the first incident that Mr. Kyte has encountered with this limited supercar. Previously, in June 2015, the car lost control and crashed into a median strip on the way to Le Mans (France). After the accident, Mr. Kyte took this car to McLaren's headquarters in Woking for repairs.

After the repairs and warranty period, the McLaren P1 Coupe that caught fire continued to break down frequently, with coolant leaks, oil leaks and electrical problems on several occasions. And the serious fire occurred just five months after the last service at Stratstone.
Too frustrated about the dealer's negligent repair and maintenance, Mr. Kyte decided to file a lawsuit against McLaren Automotive and dealer Stratstone Sports Cars, demanding compensation of more than 2 million pounds (more than 66 billion VND).

The McLaren P1 Coupe owner claims that the previous repair was not carried out with proper precision and technique, resulting in the failure to tighten the bolts, causing engine oil leakage.
Mr. Kyte also alleged that Stratstone failed to properly investigate, diagnose, repair, and maintain the vehicle, even damaging the fuel system during the work. Additionally, the dealership failed to thoroughly inspect or test the vehicle before returning it to him.
