The structure and difficulty of the 2024 competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University remain stable as in previous years.
On the afternoon of January 9, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, Director of the Center for Testing and Training Quality Assessment, Ho Chi Minh City National University, said that the structure of the competency assessment test consists of 120 multiple-choice questions, with three parts: Language use; Mathematics, logical thinking and Data analysis; Problem solving. Candidates will take the test in 150 minutes, with a score of 1,200.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City National University will hold two rounds of competency assessment exams, on April 7 and June 2, one month later than previous years. The first round of exams is expected to open for registration at the end of January, with an exam fee of VND300,000 per candidate.
Binh Phuoc and Tay Ninh are two new testing locations, in addition to 21 old testing locations, including: Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Binh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, An Giang, Can Tho, Kien Giang and Bac Lieu.

The Ho Chi Minh City National University Aptitude Test was first held in 2018 to recruit students for member schools. By 2023, the test attracted more than 100,000 candidates from 1,815 schools, and the test scores were used by 97 universities and colleges for admission.
The whole country currently has about 10 exams to assess capacity and thinking, the largest of which is the exam of two national universities.
