The situation of commercial fraud in the e-commerce environment continues to occur with increasingly sophisticated methods and tricks... This is an issue that needs to be seriously handled.
According to statistics of the General Department of Market Management, in the field of e-commerce, in the first 9 months of 2024, the Market Management force nationwide inspected 2,207 cases; detected and handled 2,014 violations, transferred 3 cases with signs of criminal violations to the Investigation Agency; imposed administrative fines of nearly 35.5 billion VND, the value of infringing goods was over 29.4 billion VND. Notably, all 63/63 provinces and cities nationwide had violations in the online environment.
Violations detected, inspected and handled by authorities in recent times show that the main violations in e-commerce are: Not notifying the e-commerce website selling goods to the competent state management agency as prescribed before selling goods; using the notified symbol to attach to the e-commerce website selling goods without approval or confirmation of the notification of the competent state agency as prescribed; not publicly displaying to consumers the policy on protecting consumers' personal information on the home page of the e-commerce website...
Mr. Nguyen Duc Le - Deputy Director of Market Management Department, General Department of Market Management It is believed that, taking advantage of loopholes in the e-commerce market, especially in the transportation of goods, the subjects have mixed in illegal goods to avoid inspection by the authorities. However, with the efforts of the Market Management force and other authorities, in the past 9 months, the fight against counterfeit goods, smuggling, and trade fraud has achieved positive results, contributing to maintaining market stability and creating a healthy business environment.

On October 15, Director General of the General Department of Market Management Tran Huu Linh signed an official dispatch to the Market Management Departments of provinces and cities nationwide, requesting units to proactively deploy professional measures, promptly organize inspections of organizations and individuals showing signs of violations according to the list of 600 websites provided by the General Department to 63 local Market Management Departments; at the same time, strictly handle acts and violations according to the provisions of the Law (if any)...
Accordingly, from now until the end of the year, Market Management forces across the country will strengthen monitoring and supervision of activities of accounts identified as having signs of violations, establish records as a basis for coordination with functional forces, accurately determine actual addresses and fight to clarify violations of organizations and individuals according to regulations.
In the coming time, the General Department will also coordinate with the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, the National Competition Commission to synthesize and study the compliance with current legal regulations and transfer proposed information to e-commerce platforms to deploy API connection; advise and coordinate with the Department of Security Industry, Ministry of Public Security in combating counterfeit goods and protecting consumers in the e-commerce environment to perform tasks under Project 319.
However, to completely prevent the problem of counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, goods with no quality assurance, and commercial fraud on e-commerce platforms, the first thing is to change consumer habits. People should only buy goods on reputable websites, licensed to operate, with clear contact information (address, phone number, tax code, etc.), carefully study the terms of warranty, return, refund, delivery, etc. as well as the products before ordering; do not be greedy for cheap goods, avoid "foreign goods", fake brand goods, say "no" to goods of unknown origin.
