Director Shin Woo Seok wanted to become a novelist when he was a student, but after watching Tony Leung's film In the Mood for Love , he decided to become a director so he could one day work with the actor.
To invite Tony Leung, Shin Woo Seok sent a letter and met three of the actor's requests, including coming to his residence to film, letting him create his own character, and filming for 2 hours.
In an interview, the famous actor shared the reason why he agreed to film NewJeans' MV:
“The CEO of NewJeans' parent company (ADOR) is an acquaintance of a Korean friend I have been close to for more than ten years.
I have known this friend for many years. He was my interpreter in 1997 and always helped me interpret when I came to Korea.
I didn't know what they were trying to film, so they sent me the script, storyboard and song. I thought it wouldn't take too much time, so I told them if it met the three requirements, I'd shoot it."
According to revealed information, after receiving the script and reviewing the content of the MV, Tony Leung agreed to participate without receiving any salary.

“Although his role was very short, Tony Leung Chiu Wai showed his dedication by carefully analyzing the script and directly suggesting the silver hairstyle in the music video. On set, he affirmed his reputation as a legendary actor and received countless admiration from the staff.”
