(Dan Tri) - Traffic violations by students occur frequently every day in Binh Duong province, even though traffic police have fined thousands of cases and sent notices to schools.

According to Dan Tri reporters in Di An City, Thuan An City, Tan Uyen City (Binh Duong) last week, the situation of students violating traffic laws such as driving motorbikes with excess engine capacity, not wearing helmets... occurred frequently in a number of schools in the area.

Not only students, parents who pick up and drop off their children by motorbike are also indifferent to their children's safety, by not requiring them to wear helmets or carrying more people than the prescribed number.

On Le Thi Trung Street, An Phu Ward (Thuan An City), Dan Tri reporters witnessed two men driving two motorbikes with license plates from An Giang and Binh Duong provinces, carrying 4 and 3 students respectively. A boy sitting at the back had to hold on to the back of the motorbike for fear of falling off the road.

At LTT High School (Le Thi Trung Street, An Phu Ward, Thuan An City), most students riding electric bicycles and motorbikes will park their vehicles in the school, while those riding motorbikes (over 50cc) will park them at shops around the school gate, with a fee of 3,000-5,000 VND/vehicle/session.

Most of the students who ride illegally "camouflage" themselves with a jacket to hide the school uniform they are wearing, avoiding detection by the traffic police. The Air Blade, Future, Wave, Vision… motorbikes leave the parking lot one by one, blending into the traffic on the road.

Taking his children to school every day, Mr. Le Anh Huu (44 years old, living in Thuan An City) witnessed many traffic violations by parents when taking their children to school. Mr. Huu said that when parents do not strictly follow the rules, it is difficult to set an example for their children to follow.

Ms. Do Thu Trang (47 years old, living in Di An City) believes that students' traffic violations are partly due to the indifference of the school. Ms. Trang wonders: "The parking lots are all around the school gate, so how can teachers not know what kind of vehicles their students use?"

In Di An City, every afternoon, people on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street (Tan Dong Hiep Ward) witness students from primary, secondary and high schools taking to the streets on motorbikes that are only for those 18 years of age or older. The alleys and parking lots around the school gates are where these students "hide" their vehicles.

With the familiar uniform, it is not difficult to see students violating traffic laws.

At a high school in Thai Hoa ward (Tan Uyen city), there was also a situation of students driving motorbikes against regulations, but the number was small.

According to Binh Duong Provincial Police, in the first 10 months of 2024, there were many cases of students violating traffic safety order, more than 4,200 cases of students violating were recorded and fined.

The Traffic Police Department of the provincial police and other localities regularly organize propaganda sessions at schools, work with parking lots around the school, and require owners to commit to not keeping vehicles that are not suitable for students' ages.

In addition to the police drawing up a record of violations against the students, the unit also sent a notice to the school and strictly handled cases where parents handed over their vehicles to unqualified drivers.

In Di An City alone, in the first 10 months of this year, the Traffic Police - Order Team has issued fines for 933 cases of students violating traffic safety with violations such as not having a driver's license, not wearing a helmet, and carrying more people than the prescribed number.
