The Memorandum of Understanding handover ceremony was solemnly held at the Residence of Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson within the framework of the meeting between Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding today is the first step for the two Ministries to continue working together in detail, realizing the goals set out in the Memorandum of Understanding, thereby aiming to increase bilateral trade turnover to grow stronger and stronger.

This MoU will contribute to strengthening economic, trade and energy cooperation, with the aim of enhancing bilateral trade cooperation in goods and services in a balanced and sustainable manner, encouraging advanced investment and promoting innovation. This is an important legal basis for the two sides to explore and identify specific pillars of cooperation in the field of bilateral economy and trade in the coming time, based on common interests and comparative interests of each side.

In addition, the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding also aims to strengthen the good traditional relationship and close ties between Vietnam and Sweden, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, helping to support the connection of organizations, businesses and state agencies in the fields of high technology, renewable energy, innovation that Sweden wishes to cooperate with in Vietnam as well as to strengthen cooperation, trade and investment connections in the fields of trade in goods, trade in services, and e-commerce.

After 55 years of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Sweden, the close relationship has been continuously strengthened and developed in depth, bilateral cooperation has been increasingly diversified in many fields and Vietnam has become an increasingly attractive investment destination for Swedish enterprises.

In the context of the world facing unfavorable geopolitical conditions as it is today, Sweden has launched an investment and trade development strategy, focusing on the Asian region, and the main content is that Sweden especially values ​​and places Vietnam in an important position in its supply chain of goods. Vietnam is also Sweden's largest import partner in Southeast Asia, with bilateral turnover always stable and growing steadily over the years.

Sweden also ranked 29th out of 143 countries and territories investing in Vietnam with 111 valid projects, total investment capital of more than 743 million USD. Investment projects focus on manufacturing and processing industries, mechanical engineering, food industry, furniture, packaging production, etc.
