In a solemn atmosphere, the red flag with a yellow star was slowly raised on top of the historic flagpole, which for 21 years the army and people of Quang Tri and the whole country had protected as if protecting the heart of the Fatherland.

With deep pride and emotion, the delegates respectfully remembered and were eternally grateful to the great President Ho Chi Minh; expressed their infinite gratitude for the great contributions of previous generations of revolutionary predecessors; and remembered the compatriots and comrades who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

The 250m2 national flag symbolizes the strength of national unity.

Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam read a speech saying that after July 1954, the US imperialists and their henchmen broke the Geneva Agreement. From then on, the country was temporarily divided; Ben Hai River became a temporary military demarcation line; Hien Luong Bridge became a symbol of the pain of division and the aspiration for unification and reunion of the entire nation. Quang Tri Province was the hottest and fiercest battlefield in the struggle for independence and national unification.

During those years, the national flag at the border bridgehead proudly flew day and night amidst the enemy's rain of bombs and bullets, becoming a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism, demonstrating the indomitable, indomitable, and heroic will of our army and people to achieve the historic victory on April 30, 1975.

For Vietnam to have peace, independence and unity, millions of the country's best sons and daughters fell on the land of Quang Tri. Quang Tri today is a sacred land, the resting place of tens of thousands of best sons and daughters from all over the country and the destination of the desire for peace.

Hosting the 66th Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long Distance Championship in 2025 is an important opportunity for Quang Tri to promote the image of its homeland, people, culture and tourism potential to domestic and international friends.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee and athletes together spread out a 250m2 national flag with the meaning of connecting the strength of national unity, expressing pride, deep gratitude to previous generations and confidence in the powerful future of the Fatherland.

The 66th Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long Distance Championship - 2025, gathering more than 7,000 athletes from all over the country, is not only a sports playground but also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and indomitable will of the Vietnamese people.

The tournament will take place on the morning of March 30, promising to bring dramatic competitions.
