(CLO) The Spring Writing Ceremony of At Ty Year 2025 at the Chu Van An Temple aims to preserve a beautiful custom, honoring the tradition of studiousness and respect for teachers of the Vietnamese people.
On February 5 (January 8, At Ty year), at the temple of teacher Chu Van An in Chi Linh city, Hai Duong province, the first writing ceremony of At Ty 2025 took place.
The opening ceremony attracted a large number of local people and a delegation of Thanh Tri district (Hanoi) - the hometown of teacher Chu Van An and delegates from several provinces and cities.
The opening ceremony began with an incense offering ceremony to pay tribute to the famous Chu Van An. The funeral oration and incense offering ceremony were performed by the elderly in the local sacrificial team.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Chi Linh City, emphasized that opening the writing ceremony is a good custom, expressing the cultural identity and traditions of the Vietnamese people every time Tet comes.
The first stroke of the pen is "the opening of words, the opening of the mind, the opening of wisdom, the opening of a career, the opening of a career". The first stroke of the pen in the spring not only symbolizes the love of learning but also attracts fortune in studying and taking exams, demonstrating the tradition of respecting teachers. Putting the first stroke of the pen of the new year on an auspicious day is an important event, symbolizing the beginning of a career, learning, and writing in the year.
Over many generations, the custom of writing the first words of spring has been respected, preserved and promoted by generations of Vietnamese people and has become an intangible cultural heritage value with lasting influence.
After the drum beating ceremony of Hai Duong Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang, the representative of Hai Duong Provincial Calligraphy Club went up to the stage to perform the opening Chinese calligraphy with the four words "Hung, Vuong, Phat, Dat".
Next, the delegates wrote 10 Vietnamese characters: “People follow one heart, every family enjoys happiness, all things prosper”. The characters written at the beginning were presented to Master Chu Van An in the temple.
The opening ceremony also included exchange activities and calligraphy skills demonstrations with the participation of 5 calligraphy artists from the Hai Duong Province Han Nom Club.
Teacher Chu Van An (1292-1370) was born in Quang Liet village (now Van village, Thanh Liet commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi).
