Opening the meeting, Secretary Austin shared that the parties will discuss Ukraine's strategic goals for the coming year and the long-term vision for the future force.
He also announced an additional $175 million aid package for Kiev, which includes AIM-9M and AIM-7 air defense missiles, ammunition for high-mobility artillery rocket systems, 155 mm and 105 mm artillery shells, and high-speed anti-missile systems.
The discussion between the two ministers took place as officials and industry leaders in the Biden administration met to discuss measures to support the Ukrainian military.
In October, the Biden administration asked Capitol Hill for nearly $106 billion in additional aid for Ukraine, Israel and border security, but Republicans, who control the House with a slim majority, rejected the proposed aid package.
