(CLO) The Dutch government will allocate 3.5 billion euros (equivalent to 3.8 billion USD) to continue supporting Ukraine in 2026, Prime Minister Dick Schoof announced on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Schoof said the money would ensure that Dutch support for Ukraine would remain unchanged for the coming year. He also stressed that the money could be used as early as 2025 if needed.

Previously, the previous Dutch government pledged a similar amount of support to Ukraine until 2025.

In addition, Mr. Schoof said 700 million euros of this support package will be used to invest in drones for Ukraine.

In addition to the Netherlands' commitment, a number of other European countries are also increasing their support for Ukraine, especially amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.

The European Union (EU) recently approved a new aid package worth tens of billions of euros to support Ukraine in military, humanitarian and economic reconstruction.

Meanwhile, Russia continues to warn Western countries about the consequences of providing weapons to Ukraine, and has announced that it will take countermeasures if NATO countries increase their intervention in the conflict.
