"This year, Book and Reading Culture Day hopes that the publishing industry will contribute to building the national knowledge system, developing the intellectual team, meeting the needs of industrialization and modernization of the country. Through a series of events, bringing a new spirit, where the people are, the reading culture develops there, where the readers are, the books are nearby, " said Minister Nguyen Manh Hung.

Beating the drum and speaking at the opening ceremony, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department highly appreciated the organization of Book Day and Reading Culture, creating a cultural beauty for the people of the capital and people across the country.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia requested relevant ministries, branches and agencies to coordinate in implementing a number of tasks: Promote propaganda and education work, raise awareness in the community about the meaning and importance of books and reading culture; focus on investing, supporting and establishing institutions for reading promotion activities in schools, agencies and units at all levels; strengthen and mobilize the creation of valuable books and works to serve the increasingly diverse needs of readers; promote digital transformation in the culture of publishing, printing and distributing books, creating new values.

Within the framework of the Opening Ceremony, the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution, the Department of External Information, the Ministry of Information and Communications will coordinate with the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports (Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam) to organize an exhibition of valuable books about the special national historical relic of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam; photos and books about the country and people of Vietnam on modern electronic versions and direct publications.

The Book Fair celebrating the Third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day was organized and carried out with a strong cultural character right at Ho Van area (located in the complex of the special national historical relic Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam) with full space to introduce and promote books of publishers, distribution enterprises, and technology enterprises.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia and Minister Nguyen Manh Hung visited the book booths.

It is expected that about 60 units will participate, exhibit, introduce and provide readers with over 40,000 valuable books. The Book Fair to celebrate the Third Book and Reading Culture Day will also have many events such as discussions, book introductions; exchanges with authors and works; typical art programs... to provide readers and visitors with many interesting experiences, attracting a large number of people from all walks of life to the Book Fair.

In response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, ministries, branches, central organizations and unions will organize many diverse, rich and practical activities to promote and develop reading culture in each agency, unit, school as well as the whole society. In localities, many diverse, rich and practical activities will take place to celebrate Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day.
