Mr. Nga shared: “Taking advantage of the spacious sandy land, in 2011, I invested in building barns to raise free-range chickens. Initially, with little capital, I only built 2 barns and raised a flock of 200 - 300 chickens. After 12 years, up to now, the family's free-range chicken farming model has developed 6 barns and the flock size has reached more than 7,000 chickens/batch".

To raise livestock effectively and sustainably, right from the start of building the model, Mr. Nga determined to raise clean livestock from the stage of selecting breeds, food sources to how to take care of the flock. The breeds of chicken he raises are crossbred Ho chickens and sugarcane chickens. These are all breeds that produce firm, delicious meat, and are very popular in the market.

In addition, chickens are raised on sandy soil, ensuring a dry environment. In particular, in the summer, the sand is hot while chickens often like to bathe in sand, which is an ideal condition to destroy pathogens in chickens. However, in the summer, the temperature of the sand yard is relatively high, to avoid the sun for the chickens, the couple planted a lot of trees around the garden, creating a clean, airy environment, increasing the effectiveness of disease prevention for livestock.

In the 7,000 m2 garden, Mr. Tran Van Nga divides it into areas to raise many batches of chickens of different ages. On average, Mr. Nga will sell twice a month, each time about 2,000 chickens. Recently, Mr. Nga sold more than 2,000 commercial chickens at a price of 78,000 VND/kg. After deducting expenses, his family earned a net profit of nearly 30 million VND.

In addition to supplying broiler chickens to the market, Mr. Nga also acts as an agent supplying poultry feed to many local livestock farmers.

“Since the beginning of the year, my family has sold nearly 20,000 commercial chickens. After deducting expenses, my family earned about 270 million VND in profit. Chicken prices are increasing, and Tet is coming up, so I am building another barn to increase the chicken flock to meet market demand,” Mr. Tran Van Nga added.

In addition to supplying chickens to the market, Mr. Nga also acts as an agent supplying poultry feed to many local households. During the breeding process, he also makes use of the production of chicken manure to sell to people for cultivation. Mr. Nga uses probiotics to deodorize chicken manure and decompose it into organic fertilizer. On average, he sells 400-500 bags of manure per month and earns 4-5 million VND from chicken manure (10,000 VND/bag).
