Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Eximbank) has just continued to reduce interest rates for the second time this month with a reduction of 0.1%/year on deposit interest rates for terms from 15 to 36 months.

Accordingly, the online interest rate for 15-month term deposits decreased by 0.1%/year to 6.1%/year; the interest rate for 18-month term deposits decreased by 0.1%/year to 6.4%/year; the interest rate for 24-36 month terms also decreased by 0.1%/year to 6.5%/year.

A similar reduction also applies to savings interest rates for customers who deposit money online on weekends, with interest rates equal to those for weekday savings deposits with a term of 12 months or more.

However, Eximbank is still the market leader in terms of bank interest rates for deposit terms after 12 months.

Eximbank keeps deposit interest rates unchanged for terms from 1 to 12 months. Accordingly, online deposit interest rates from Monday to Friday, with interest paid at the end of the term, are as follows:

Bank interest rate for 1-month term is 4.1%/year; 2-month term is 4.3%/year; 3-month term is 4.4%/year; 4-5-month term is 4.7%/year; 6-9-month term is 5.4%/year; and 12-month term is 5.6%/year.

Eximbank also keeps the interest rate for online deposits on weekends, with terms from 1 to 12 months at the same level. Currently, the interest rate applied to deposit accounts with interest paid at the end of the term is as follows:

Bank interest rates for 1-2 month terms are up to 4.7%/year; notably, bank interest rates for 3-5 month terms are still listed by Eximbank at the ceiling interest rate of 4.75%/year.

Meanwhile, the online savings interest rate on weekends applied to 6-9 month term deposits is 5.7%/year; 12 month term has an interest rate of 5.8%/year.

The deposit interest rate for customers choosing to receive interest at the end of the term is listed by Eximbank as 0.2%/year higher than the deposit interest rate receiving interest monthly (applied to all days of the week).

The interest rate for deposits with terms of less than 1 month (1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks) currently listed by Eximbank is equal to the ceiling interest rate according to the State Bank's regulations, from 0.5%/year.

This is the second time in February 2025 that Eximbank has reduced its deposit interest rates. Previously, on February 7, the bank increased its deposit interest rates for terms of 1-12 months by 0.1% per year and reduced its deposit interest rates for terms of 15-36 months by 0.2% per year.

In January alone, Eximbank also increased deposit interest rates twice, up to 1.6%/year for terms of 15 - 36 months.

According to statistics, banks have adjusted interest rates since the beginning of February 2025, including: TPBank (reduced deposit interest rates for terms of 1 - 2 - 3 and 12 months), Techcombank (increased interest rates for terms of 6-36 months), Bac A Bank (reduced interest rates for 1-36 months) and Eximbank (increased interest rates for 1-12 months, reduced interest rates for 15-36 months, and reduced interest rates for 15 - 36 months), Viet A Bank (increased interest rates for terms of 12 - 36 months).
