Quang Ninh Province has just issued the 2025 Import-Export Development Plan with many specific goals, including: Export turnover of goods of enterprises in the province to increase by over 12% over the same period; increase the proportion of processed and manufactured industrial goods exported to 67% of the total export turnover of enterprises in the province in 2024. The province also sets out specific targets to diversify export markets, including increasing the proportion of the Asian export market to about 82% of the total export turnover in 2024; the European export market to about 10%; the American export market to about 5%; the African export market to about 1%; and other export markets to about 2% of the total export turnover in 2025.

These are the goals set based on the fairly stable foundation of Quang Ninh province with advantages in economic development in general and import and export in particular. Because, with nearly 119km of land border and 191km of sea border with China, Quang Ninh is a province with good trade conditions with China through a system of land and sea border gates. The province also owns a modern traffic infrastructure, with a highway system connecting from the capital Hanoi, through Hai Phong to Mong Cai border gate connecting with China, a huge market of over 1 billion people. Quang Ninh also has an international airport, a very developed seaport system. Along with that, Quang Ninh is also a leading locality in the country in administrative reform, improving a favorable business environment with 7 consecutive years (from 2017 to 2023) ranking first in Vietnam in the PCI Index.

Since the beginning of 2025, Quang Ninh's import and export have also shown many positive signs. According to a report from Mong Cai Border Gate Customs Branch, as of February 8, 2025, 480 enterprises have carried out customs procedures through the border gate, an increase of 87 enterprises over the same period last year; the total import and export turnover reached 493.56 million USD, an increase of 24% over the same period in 2024. Goods trading activities through Bac Phong Sinh border gate have also increased sharply since the beginning of the year with the total import and export turnover reaching 7,406,690 USD, an increase of 80.4%...

According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, the total import-export turnover in January 2025 of Quang Ninh reached more than 903.18 million USD, the trade balance had a surplus of 34.54 million USD (specifically, export turnover reached 448.86 million USD, import turnover reached 414.32 million USD).

In particular, on February 6, 2025, in Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh Province, the signing ceremony for the acceptance of the handover of the office building and equipment for the agricultural and food laboratory (CCIC) at Bac Luan II border gate also took place. The laboratory has a total area of 430m2, designed and equipped with modern equipment according to international standards ISO 17025 with a total investment of 30 billion VND. Having more product quality inspection units will be a good opportunity for Vietnamese goods exported to China in particular and to other markets.

Besides, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in 2025, export activities are forecast to have many advantages and room for growth because global inflation has cooled down and international market demand is on the way to recovery.

With these positive signals, the 2025 Import-Export Development Plan in Quang Ninh province is expected to be completed beyond expectations, contributing to the province's economic growth target of 14% in 2025.
