Mr. Pham Minh An, Director of the Facility, said that in recent times, the Facility has not only focused on implementing drug addiction treatment well, but also paid special attention to environmental management and protection such as regularly propagating and mobilizing staff and students to plant trees to create a green, clean, and beautiful environment, raising awareness of responsibility in environmental protection; The collection, storage, transportation, and treatment of solid waste and medical waste are carried out in accordance with the provisions of law on solid waste and medical waste management.

The wastewater treatment system ensures that before discharging into the environment, it meets the standards and technical regulations on wastewater. Along with that, it is necessary to control and treat mold, internal roads, trees, corridors and environmental landscape according to the scale, nature and operational characteristics of the facility.

All the trees in the campus are assigned to be trimmed, watered and cared for daily by the students, creating a green, clean and beautiful landscape environment while also helping the students do light work, as a very good therapeutic practice lesson for the health of the drug addicts here.

“A green, beautiful, airy living environment will help students feel comfortable, thereby bringing about the effectiveness of drug addiction treatment. Therefore, in recent years, the Center has always focused on building a friendly treatment facility with a green, clean, and beautiful environment,” the Center Director affirmed.

According to Mr. Dang Minh Thong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the province's drug rehabilitation work still has many limitations that need to be overcome such as: not clearly defining the responsibilities and powers of departments, branches, and localities, leading to shirking of responsibility; lack of coordination between agencies, making it impossible to carry out necessary tasks; not yet building an effective drug rehabilitation model and not having many activities to support drug addicts to reintegrate into the community...

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to continue reviewing and updating the number of files of drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation, paying attention to those who have had their files established but have not yet undergone rehabilitation at centralized rehabilitation facilities in the province. In addition, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs needs to notify local authorities to grasp the situation of drug addicts in the area; guide the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to establish voluntary rehabilitation facilities with full functions according to regulations and widely disseminate information about these facilities.

As soon as we entered the facility, we were greeted by rows of trees and flower gardens, all arranged in a reasonable manner, creating a cool, fresh atmosphere. The student housing blocks were solidly built. Each block had a bathroom and a private toilet, skylights and windows to ensure adequate light and air circulation.

In each bedroom, students sleep on a tiled platform 20cm higher than the floor. Students are not allowed to lie directly on the tiles. The facility provides mats for students to sleep on to ensure their health.

In addition, the facility also built a wastewater and waste treatment area located far from the living areas of staff, employees and students. In addition, there is a model of a garden, pond, and closed barn with a fence to ensure environmental and air hygiene.

Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Director of Long An Drug Rehabilitation Center, said that Long An Drug Rehabilitation Center under the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Long An has the function and task of managing, detoxifying, treating and rehabilitating drug addicts, and at the same time organizing management, vocational training and job placement for post-rehabilitation students.

The facility always arranges trees and grass in the campus to prevent and minimize environmental pollution, protecting the health of staff and students.

"Since its inception, the facility has always determined to build a green, clean, and beautiful treatment facility; this is an important activity to improve the quality of treatment, bringing positivity to students during the treatment process. Therefore, ensuring environmental hygiene, providing enough clean water and arranging trees and grass in the facility will prevent and minimize environmental pollution, protecting the health of staff and students," Mr. Cuong affirmed.

To ensure environmental hygiene, the management has increased propaganda for staff, employees and students to properly implement the facility's regulations and rules on environmental protection. The facility has launched movements such as: Smoke-free office, launching tree planting, flower planting around the facility area...

According to Mr. Cuong, the daily waste is classified by the facility before being processed. Organic waste is buried to be used as fertilizer for the trees in the campus; inorganic waste will be collected and brought to the facility's incinerator to be burned with oil; recyclable waste will be collected and sold as scrap; for leftover food, the facility will re-cook it to make food for pets such as dogs, pigs, and fish.
