This afternoon, November 5, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien inspected the site and worked with departments, branches, sectors and localities related to two projects: Coastal road section through Cua Tung and Cua Viet bridges; Road connecting Quang Tri Airport with National Highway 1 - phase 1.

According to the report of the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board (PMU), the coastal road project through Cua Tung and Cua Viet bridges was approved by the Provincial People's Council on December 19, 2023; the Provincial People's Committee approved the feasibility study report on April 9, 2024. The project is about 3.16 km long with a total investment of VND 600 billion, implemented from 2024 to 2025. It is expected that about 100 households, 312 graves and a number of other works and structures will be affected.
The project of the route connecting Quang Tri Airport with National Highway 1 was approved by the Provincial People's Council in principle for investment on December 9, 2021. In particular, phase 1 of the project invests in constructing the section from the intersection with the Eastern Bypass Project of Dong Ha City to the entrance to Quang Tri Airport. The route length is about 2.89 km with a total investment of VND 89,689 billion.
To date, the project's revised feasibility study report has been appraised by the Department of Transport and submitted to the Provincial People's Committee for approval. Construction is expected to begin from March 2025 to December 2025.

Inspecting the site at the areas where the Coastal Road is expected to be deployed, the section through Cua Tung and Cua Viet bridges, the representative of the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board reported on the adjustment of the route through Cua Viet bridge area to the west of Ha Tay market in Trieu An commune, Trieu Phong district with the route length increased by about 1 km; the roadbed width from 9 m to 14 m on each side to match the scale of the existing central road along the Southeast Economic Zone; the number of Ha Tay bridge spans from 5 girder spans with a bridge width of 16.5 m to 2 slab bridge units, each unit has a width of 9 m, the total length of the bridge to the end of the abutment is reduced from 222.4 m to 24.7 m. In which, the starting point of the route connects traffic with the concrete road along the South bank of Hieu River, the end point is at the intersection of the central road along the Southeast Economic Zone and National Highway 49C.
For the section through Cua Tung bridge area, adjust Cua Tung bridge from 11 spans to 9 spans with length reduced from 608.6 m to 500.8 m; adjust bridge abutment from U-shaped abutment to U-shaped abutment with underpass.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien requested the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board to urgently coordinate with localities to deploy steps to prepare for site clearance, including reviewing and calculating resettlement plans for households in the project-affected areas; carefully researching and calculating to soon develop a specific plan according to the new adjusted route for the Coastal Road section through the Cua Tung and Cua Viet bridges. Assign the Department of Transport to preside over and coordinate with relevant units and sectors to recalculate some technical data on the bottom of the bridge girder, maximum slope design... when constructing the projects.
Regarding common materials used for the project and waste soil transportation, the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board coordinates with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, localities, and units to study the plan to use soil mines without auction and submit it to competent authorities for consideration.
