Russian destroyer docks at Cam Ranh port

Destroyers and tankers of the Russian Pacific Fleet docked at Cam Ranh international port during a two-day visit.

A Russian military fleet including the anti-submarine destroyer Admiral Panteleyev and the medium-sized tanker Pechenga of the Pacific Fleet docked at Cam Ranh port in Khanh Hoa province on December 2.

Russian officers and sailors will participate in sports exchanges with officers and sailors of the Vietnam People's Navy, as well as visit a number of historical and cultural relics in Nha Trang city.

Russian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Timur Sadykov said Cam Ranh "over the past two decades has been a reliable logistical support point for ships of the Pacific Fleet".

According to Mr. Sadykov, visits to Vietnamese ports by Russian sailors "contribute significantly to strengthening the friendship and comprehensive partnership between the two countries for peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region and in the world."

The Admiral Panteleyev destroyer belongs to the Project 11551 Fregat class, has a displacement of 7,900 tons, is 163 m long, can move at a maximum speed of 65 km/h, and has a range of about 19,400 km. The warship carries two Ka-27 helicopters.

The warship is equipped with two 100 mm AK-100 naval guns, two clusters of four Rastrub-B anti-submarine missile launchers, eight Kinzhal air defense missile launchers, two clusters of 12 RBU-6000 anti-submarine rocket launchers, two clusters of four 533 mm torpedo launchers and four AK-630M close-in defense complexes.
