Another Director Prosecuted

On October 7, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency informed that it had issued a decision to prosecute, an arrest warrant and a search warrant for Mr. Phung My Luong (Director of My Luong Construction, Trade and Service Company Limited) for the crime of "Violating regulations on research, exploration and exploitation of natural resources" as prescribed in Article 227 of the Penal Code.

The Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency prosecuted Mr. Phung My Luong for illegally profiting nearly 20 billion VND.

According to the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency, Mr. Phung My Luong agreed and paid money to Le Quang Binh, Chairman of the Board of Members and General Director of Trung Hau 68 Company, to illegally exploit sand at the mine of Trung Hau 68 Company.

Initially, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency determined that Mr. Phung My Luong illegally exploited and sold 197,112 cubic meters of sand, illegally profiting nearly 20 billion VND.

Previously, the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, and Smuggling under the Ministry of Public Security conducted an investigation into the case of Violating regulations on exploration and exploitation of natural resources; Giving and receiving bribes; Abusing positions and powers while performing official duties; Illegal printing, issuance and trading of invoices and documents for payment to the State budget occurring at Trung Hau 68 Company; the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of An Giang province and related units.

Expanding the investigation, it was determined that Tran Anh Thu, in his position as Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, directed Nguyen Viet Tri - Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to support and create favorable conditions to help Trung Hau 68 Company to be licensed for exploration, exploitation, increase reserves and exploitation capacity, and ignore violations during the exploitation process at My Hiep & Binh Phuoc Xuan sand mines, Cho Moi district, An Giang province.

Tran Anh Thu received money and material benefits from Le Quang Binh - Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of Trung Hau 68 Company with a total initial value determined to be 1.2 billion VND.

Currently, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency is focusing on investigating and clarifying the nature, roles, and criminal acts of the defendants and related persons to expand the investigation, clarify the nature of the case, and thoroughly recover assets for the State.
