On March 31, according to information from the Investigation Police Agency of Gia Lai Province, the unit issued a decision to supplement the decision to prosecute the criminal case, prosecute the accused and issue a ban on leaving the place of residence against Mr. Ho Van Diem (born in 1968), former Chairman and Ms. Dinh Thi Giang - former Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai Province for the crime of "Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences".
Mr. Diem and Ms. Giang were prosecuted in connection with the embezzlement case of more than 4 billion VND that occurred at this agency.

Previously, the Gia Lai Provincial Party Executive Committee decided to discipline Mr. Ho Van Diem, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the Party Delegation, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province, with a warning.
The reason is that Mr. Diem failed to check and did not detect that Ms. Do Thi Thu Hien - the agency's accountant - had appropriated more than 4 billion VND from the province's COVID-19 prevention and control fund for personal use.
Regarding this case, in May 2023, Ms. Hien was arrested by the Investigation Police Agency of Gia Lai Province for the act of "Embezzlement of property".
According to documents, from February 2021 to April 2023, Ms. Do Thi Thu Hien, accountant of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province, took advantage of her assigned duties and responsibilities to create fake documents to withdraw more than 4 billion VND from the COVID-19 Prevention and Control Fund of Gia Lai province from the account of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, opened at BIDV Bank - Gia Lai Branch.
When the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province decided to disburse funds from the provincial COVID-19 Prevention and Control Fund to agencies, Ms. Hien was unable to pay so she fled.
After the police issued a wanted notice, Ms. Hien turned herself in. The Investigation Police Agency of Gia Lai Province initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Ms. Do Thi Thu Hien for 4 months to investigate the act of "embezzlement of property".
In early March 2024, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province held an extraordinary conference and agreed to let Mr. Ho Van Diem, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province, cease to be a member and cease to hold the position of Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province, term X, 2019 - 2024, as desired.
